The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Whitney and Bobby Tour:
Whitney's husband, Bobby Brown, says they plan to launch a joint
tour next spring. Click on the link above to read the complete article.
On the Charts: "Whitney: The
Greatest Hits" slides out of the Billboard 200 as the previously
reported Arista holiday advertising has yet to appear in the U.S.,
while all marketing efforts appear to only exist in Europe at this
time. In addition, the "Fine" DVD single is not being
factored into the song's status on the R&B chart, which doesn't
help it as there is no other commercial single and there has not
been an airplay push or Arista-issued promotional remixes yet. Read
the complete statistics...
Message from the Platinum Club: In the spirit of giving this
holiday season, Whitney has requested that any gifts you may have
thought to forward to her by way of The Platinum Club instead be
donated to The Whitney Houston Foundation For Children. The Foundation
is looking for toys, gift certifications or donations to make the
holidays a little brighter for those less fortunate. To find out
how to send a donation to a child in need, care of Whitney's Foundation

From
Vibe Magazine: With their supercatchy single "I Know," hitting
the airwaves, and the February release of their self-titled soulful
pop debut fast approaching, Sunday rely on the guidance of co-manager
and fairy godmother Whitney Houston. The ladies first met Houston
in a Newark parking lot in 1995, a year after signing with long-time
Houston associate Robyn Crawford. "Robyn walked over to us and said,
'She's comin', y'all better do something,'" says Notasha, who co-wrote
eight of the album's tracks, including "I Know." "We sang 'Baby,'
by Brandy. After that, the pressure was off," she says. "Now, she
talks to us as if we were her kids. Like, 'Bobbi Kristina, go upstairs.
Girls, okay, hit that note,'" adds lead singer Tiffany.
Houston, who on her 1998 song, "I Was Made To Love Him" shared billing
with the group, says, "When I was starting out, I HAD people in
my life like my mother [Cissy Houston], my cousin Dionne Warwick,
and Aretha [Franklin], I learned a lot from those women. With Sunday,
I'm passing on what was taught to me." (Thanks Manish)
Music Charts Update: News from France

Maxi Singles Chart in France, and is at No. 2 on the Singles Chart.

More
Information on Paul Robeson Tribute: Whitney Houston and her
husband, Bobby Brown, will perform Tuesday night at "Paul Robeson:
Voice For the Millennium." Houston will croon the "Porgy and
Bess" ballad, "I Loves You, Porgy." It's possible she might
sing lead on "This Day," a song written for the occasion by her
mother, singer Cissy Houston, and Jersey gospel scene veteran Donnie
Harper. Brown, a member of New Edition as well as a solo star, will
rap some of Robeson's words to the tune of his 1989 hit, "Every
Little Step."
...The show, organized by the New York-based Paul Robeson Foundation,
will be taped for broadcast on PBS in March, with NJN as the host
station. Proceeds will benefit inner-city students at Rutgers University
in Newark (Robeson was a Rutgers College valedictorian in 1919)
and the Paul Robeson Foundation Educational Mission...
Cissy Houston, whose ex-husband, John Houston, was Robeson's godson,
said Robeson is slave, and "he was there before his time with the
civil rights struggle. It means a heck of a lot. He paved the way
to help a lot of people." Robeson died in 1976, at the age of 77.
Robeson was also a wonderful singer, said Houston, who will sing
Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday" on Tuesday, and lead the
New Hope Gospel Youth Choir and the Marble Collegiate Community
Mass Choir through the grand finale version of the new "This
Day." "He had one of the heaviest and most melodious voices
I've ever known," said Houston. [From the Newark Star-Ledger (Thanks
Manish)]
Here's a great new picture

Music Charts Update: News from The Netherlands
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is down 13 places this week to
No. 34 on the Dutch Veronica Top 100. (Thanks Eddy VB)
The Power of Teamwork: The German magazine "Neue Revue" recently
published a negative report about Whitney. Some fans in Germany
had decided earlier to do something against bad rumors and teamed
up in a campaign called "Pro Whitney." We answered the magazines
who printed negative and untrue stories to show them that Whitney's
fans stay at her side. "Neue Revue" was one of the magazines we
wrote to, and in this week's edition, they printed two of the letters
with the headline "Just Leave Whitney Alone!" Our letters were mainly
about positive developments including the earlier reported negative
drug test. Both of our letters asked the magazine to write about
those positive developments. Along with the letters, they printed
a picture of Whitney titled: "Headlines because of drugs - but her
fans stay at her side: Whitney Houston." (Thanks Lili & Caroline)

Following on the back of her two Top 10 singles this year, "If

returns with her new hit single which features Faith Evans &
Kelly Price. The video (in which both Faith & Kelly are featured)
has already been played by MTV & CD-UK. Mixes come from R.I.P.
who are Tim Deluxe & Omar Adimora (X Men & 10 Below) who co-run
Ice Cream Records with Andy Lysandrou (more commonly known as
one half of Truesteppers). Undadoggz are Steve Gurley & Zed
Bias who are both prolific underground garage producers. Zed
Biasmore recently had a Top 20 hit with "Neigbourhood." These

Yesterday I went to New York City to see the musical "Chicago" starring
Jasmine Guy. One of the co-stars of the show was Charlotte d'Ambroise,
who played the camera woman in "The Preacher's Wife." They both
came out after the show to sign autographs and take pictures. After
Charlotte finished signing autographs, she took a picture with me,
my friend and Jasmine. So that's when I grilled her about Whitney.
She said Whitney was very professional on the set of "The Preacher's
Wife." She said she noted how much more beautiful Whitney is in
person than on TV. She also said that they would have to tell Whitney
to hold back on some of the songs because it wouldn't sound right
on camera. She says she doesn't know any other singer that can repeatedly
outsing themselves. She noted what a phenomenal voice Whitney has.

Excerpt from today's Scottish Daily Record:
I'd Rather Be Whitney Than Britney -- Teenage sensation Samantha
Mumba took a pop at "blonde and smiley" Britney Spears yesterday
as she celebrated hitting number one in America... As she gave the
Record an exclusive glimpse into her family photo album, Samantha
insisted she would rather be classed with diva Whitney Houston than
with manufactured teen acts. She said: "Everyone is trying to compare
me to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera but there are big differences
between us… I'd rather emulate Whitney because she is a particular
idol of mine - an R&B diva. I'd love to get to know her. It's any
female's ambition to have a career as successful and as long as
hers." |

Translation from the French "Premiere": Claude Lelouch's
next movie, not entitled "T for Thriller" but renamed "And Now,
Ladies and Gentlemen..." will tell the love story between a French
woman and an American. Dustin Hoffman, due to lack of time, will
not be part of the production, which promises to be cosmopolitan.
The movie, which will be filmed in both the U.S. and Europe, will
combine many genres/styles, from polar to drama, including musical
comedy and fantasy. Whitney Houston may be part of the cast. (Thanks
Alexandra)
Note: This description of the movie doesn't match Dustin
Hoffman's description of "T For Thriller" earlier this
year (from June 2000 Nippy News). Hoffman
described it as a thriller about a retired criminal who finds he
has a dangerous illness, who then meets another person with the
same illness. He added that "it's kind of a love story." Here's
an early article about the movie from the Nippy News archive.
Coincidentally, Whitney's BrownHouse Productions plans to co-produce
"One For All," an adaptation of an earlier Claude Lelouch film (from
October 2000 Nippy News).
From Whitney's official
German site: Whitney will be featured in 90-second spots in
Germany from November 20-26 on 150 railways in 49 stations. Watch
for it!
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is down one place to No. 9 on MTV's

During yesterday's MTV countdown of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs,
Ananda Lewis asked Destiny's Child who their greatest musical influences
were while they were growing up. They answered Gladys Knight and
Janet Jackson. Adding to this, they unanimously agreed that of all
their influences, they all definately loved Whitney the most! (Thanks
John G.)
There are two pictures of Whitney in the October issue of Black
Hairstyles magazine. One disses Whitney for wearing wigs that they
say make her look older than she is, and another is included with
an article that elaborates on the virtues of wearing wigs and letting
your hair "breathe." (Thanks Rachel) |

Bodyguard II: Access Hollywood reported today that a script
for a sequel to "The Bodyguard" is definitely in the works
and Kevin Costner said he has seen it. No further details were provided.
From the Platinum
Club: Whitney's DVD featuring "Fine" will be released to
stores tomorrow, Tuesday, November 21st.The DVD will also include
the video for "If I Told You That." Be sure to pick it up tomorrow!
In a special note to the Platinum Club, Whitney
personally expressed her best wishes to all of her fans, wishing
each of you a very happy beginning to your holiday season and the
very best for a joyous and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday!
Here is a large Newark newspaper
advertisement for the upcoming "Paul Robeson: Voice For The
Millennium" tribute where Whitney is scheduled to perform on November
28th. As you can see, she's being advertised as the main draw for
the show. (Many thanks Smeckles)
Vote
for Whitney! Please select Whitney's "I Will Always
Love You" as your favorite of five songs from Rolling Stone
and MTV's 100 Greatest Pop Songs list. It's the only Whitney song
on the list, so please rank it first, followed by an additional
four songs that likely won't have any chance of making it into the
Top 5 viewer list. (In other words, please try to avoid voting for
teeny bopper songs, as those fans will vote in droves. The Backstreet
Boys are currently at No. 1, for example.) Whitney is currently
at No. 13 in the viewer ranking, while Rolling Stone and MTV have
her at No. 40 on the list. Let's vote!

Charts Update: News from the U.K.
From Amazon.com: This is
the cover of "Platinum Christmas," the new BMG compilation

of Whitney from the "Heartbreak Hotel" video. (Thanks

Music group Hanson is touring in Brazil. During a TV interview today,
they said they only became musicians because their parents made
them grow up listening to great music, like Elvis Presley, the Beatles
and Whitney Houston. (Thanks Fernanda) |

Take a look at what appears to be the cover
of the "Fine" DVD single! The sticker says it
includes the "If I Told You That" video for all the U.S.
fans who may have missed it. Hopefully this means it will definitely
be on sale on Tuesday! (Thank you Joseph)
"Anything For Love" News? The following is
an excerpt from an interview with Jada Pinkett-Smith in the December
issue of Sister2Sister magazine:
S2S: Now, I know you are doing
stuff with Whitney Houston because Whitney's person told me that
she enjoys working with you.
Jada: Yes, they have a great script
for Will and Whitney. They're pulling the script together now,
doing rewrites and what have you.
Whitney lost the M6 Award for International Female Artist of the
Year to Shania Twain. The show took place in France yesterday.

On the Charts: "Fine"
slips a bit on the R&B charts as we continue to wait for a previously
reported DVD single, and the Greatest Hits slips as well on the
Billboard 200 as it waits for advertising. Read the complete
statistics...
From syndicated columnist Liz Smith: Whitney Houston visited
the set of "Princess Diaries" in L.A., a film she is producing.
As a birthday surprise for director Garry Marshall, she appeared
on the set wheeling out a huge cake, singing "Happy Birthday." The
tabloid-bruised songbird looked and sounded fabulous! She also spent
time chatting with the movie's star, Julie Andrews, saying of her,
"Julie's voice is touched by God, whether she's singing or speaking."
(Thanks Emanuel)
Note: This item is particularly good because Smith's column is published
in newspapers and distributed via other media throughout the U.S.
There is a CD called "A Tribute To Whitney Houston" listed at online
stores including Amazon.com. (Thanks Daniel)
Warning! Don't buy this CD unless
you like listening to very bad soundalikes. The Whitney "tribute"
CD includes 14 tracks by various artists who are not listed by name.
It is not an official CD, and the "tributes" were not
recorded by popular music artists. In addition, it is one of a slew
of tribute CDs that were released at the same time. Other such CDs
are a "Tribute to Britney Spears," "Tribute to Enrique Iglesias,"
and "Tribute to Shania Twain," etc. Amazon.com doesn't list audio
files for Whitney's tribute, but all you have to do is listen to
the audio of Enrique's tribute CD to hear the quality of such recordings.
If you missed the earlier Nippy News, use the News
Archive or the newslog.
