The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

The
"Fine" music video is being featured on Windowsmedia.com!
Take a look! (Thanks Clif)
From the Platinum
Club: "I Will Always Love You" has been voted as one of the
100 Greatest Pop Songs of the modern pop era in the upcoming December
7th issue of Rolling Stone. Whitney's version of the song was voted
as No. 40 by the magazine's editors as well as by programmers, producers
and researchers from MTV who used the Beatles' arrival in America
as the starting point to gage their picks. "I wrote the song in
the early Seventies and recorded it a couple of times myself, but
Whitney gave it new life," Dolly Parton is quoted. The article also
repeats the story of how Whitney credits Kevin Costner with finding
the song. Rolling Stone describes Whitney's performance as "soul-
testifying and gospel-influenced vocals that reached for the heavens..."
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is up one place this week to No.
8 on MTV's European Top 20 as broadcasted by MTV Europe. (Thanks
Eddy VB)
MTV aired part of an interview with Whitney during the show "The
Essential Wyclef Jean" yesterday. She talked about the way they
worked together. Then MTV followed with a clip of Wyclef, who said:
"A lot of singers try to look like her, but there's only one Whitney
Houston." (Thanks Cooky)

Marketing
Update: I spoke to my rep today from BMG and she told me that
Arista is planning a U.S. holiday push for Whitney (& Toni). They
have ordered all new POP (instore posters) that they plan to have
hung in stores within the next few weeks. The rep told me that they
were talking about repackaging but decided that it would not boost
sales so they will more than likely not do it.
She also told me that they are wondering if they will go forward
with the "Fine" single. They made the mistake of putting the song
on "Totally Hits 3" because they were not going to release
it as a single and now they are not sure if it is worth it. She
told me that they gave out promos for all of the other DVD singles
but they are holding on to the Whitney single until they decide.
(Thank you Alan M.) Personal note: It's worth it!
Please don't continue to ignore the U.S. singles market.
Same

Another fan review of the Las

Twist Magazine Update: You may recall how Quencie T. Thomas,
the Whitney fan who interviewed Whitney for MTV's Fanatic show in
1998, asked us for help a few months ago? She had been interviewed
by Twist, a teen magazine, for an article about stars and their
relationships with fans. Quencie, who's been fortunate to have met
with Whitney several times since then, had told the magazine her
positive story about Whitney. But later on, the magazine said it
would pull Whitney's portion of the article, saying she was "too
controversial." As a result, Quencie requested that we complain
to the magazine, and now they've changed their plans. Click
here to read Quencie's update. |

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is down one place to No. 14 on
the Veronica
Top 100 after thirteen weeks. (Thanks Eddy VB)
Well it finally happened: Celebrity Deathmatch (a claymation show)
featured Whitney in a match. It was called "Battle of the Divas"
Part 3 featuring Whitney vs Diana Ross. Of course they did a parody
of Whitney and Diana's airport security troubles. Anyway, through
the hair pulling and tossing and some good writing (they included
some of the titles of Whitney's songs in the dialogue), Whitney
beat Diana and came out of it with only two black eyes. Her make
up and dress were still perfect, while Diana looked torn up. I guess
we can score another victory for Whitney...LOL! (Thanks Derric)

The
Las Vegas Review-Journal has given Whitney high marks for her performance
on Friday night at the Aladdin. It isn't so good to Bobby, but takes
the older crowd into account. It also mentions that Bobby said they
want to take the show on tour together. Read
the complete review! You can click on the image at the left
to see a full-size picture of the family performing during the show.
Another two fan reviews of
the Las Vegas show have been added, including a super detailed one!
U.K. Music Chart News
Whitney's cameo in Outkast's commercial to promote their new album,
"Stankonia," has spread beyond BET. During the commercial
break of the Jamie Foxx Show, which aired on Sunday on the WB Network,
promos were featured advertising the new CD. Nothing remarkable
is said during the commerical, other than Whitney saying, "OK, now
what is Stankonia?" and "I know what Stankonia is...Stank! Period."
There are clips of Outkast videos between the two short Whitney
segments. (Thanks Glenn) |

Las

the set list? We want details! Thank you!
Vegas Screen
Captures: View pictures of Whitney and Bobby rehearsing
for their Las Vegas show on Wednesday. The pictures show them singing
"Something In Common."
More Las Vegas Articles: Read
two stories from today's Las Vegas Sun about Whitney and Bobby's
show scheduled for tonight. The first provides information about
their rehearsals and reported excursions in town. The latter article
sheds some light on how music industry insiders have reacted to
this year's bad press, once you get past the usual cliches and sections
that rehash those negative stories quite a bit. Those parts appear
to have been cut and pasted from other articles, since they read
very similarly. (Thank you Sharon)
Contradicting a report from George Michael's official web site,
Arista has confirmed "If I Told You That" will be promoted as a
U.S. single in 2001. (Thanks Manish)
Music Charts Update: News from Belgium

Dareen Hayes of Savage Garden shared his Top 10 favorite videos
on MTV Asia and the final song on his list was "My Love Is Your

is judgment day... I will say I spent it with you." (Thanks Karen)

Possible
Tour and Music News from Spain: According to several radio stations
in Spain, as well as Hola Magazine, Whitney will do two concerts
in Madrid, Spain in June as part of a 2001 European tour! The reports
state that the arenas haven't been selected yet. They also are reporting
that the next single in Spain will be "Heartbreak Hotel." (Thank
you Askoa)
I spoke with someone at BMG Spain earlier this year, and was told
that Whitney was planning to do a tour around Europe in 2001, but
nothing was confirmed. Spain was supposedly going to be included
on that tour. Now that more reports are surfacing, I'm more optimistic
that it could happen, even though Whitney hasn't performed a concert
in Spain for many years. (Thank you Laura)
Vegas Rehearsal: "Entertainment Tonight" showed a brief clip
of Whitney and Bobby rehearsing for their concert in Las Vegas tomorrow.
They were singing "Something In Common." Bobby was wearing a tan-colored
Avirex sweatsuit, and Whitney wore jeans and a blazer. She looked
like she was was wearing little or no makeup and she looked great.
(Thanks Rashad)
[More information to be posted tomorrow.]
On the Charts: Whitney's new song
"Fine" takes a slight dip while waiting for a commercial single,
as the Greatest Hits moves up slightly on the Billboard 200 chart.
Read the complete statistics, including news from Europe...
Singer Tamia mentions Whitney: With its songs about broken romances
and cheating mates, Tamia's second album does not paint many pictures
of domestic bliss. ..."People always think what you sing about is
your life; they think every heartbreak song Whitney [Houston] sings
is about Bobby [Brown]. It's not, necessarily. You have a little
bit of acting when you come to music, portray a certain character."
(Thanks Sam) |

U.K.
Chart News Update
MTV Germany's show "In Touch" interviewed R.Kelly. He played a song
called "I Look To You" that he wrote for Whitney. It goes something
like this: "After all we've been through I look to you.... and when
melodies are gone and you hear that song I look to you..." He was
asked whether she sang it already and he answered, "Not yet." He
added that he would send it to her when it was finished. The host,
Sophie, started to cry when he sang it. Whitney did not commission
the song. (Thanks Lili, Basti)
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is down one place to No. 4 on TMF

this week. (Thanks Eddy VB) |

New
Remix: Listen to the "Fine" P3 Mix, which combines
the song with Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers video game theme.
Of course, it's an unofficial mix. Just a bit of fun. (Thank
you CJ)
Here's another picture of
Whitney and Bobby at the recent Million Family March in Washington,
D.C. The picture, from the November 6th issue of Jet Magazine, shows
Whitney and Bobby reacting to part of a speech by Nation of Islam
leader Louis Farrakhan.
Scotland's most popular radio station, Clyde
1, played a remix of "Heartbreak Hotel" today during the Scottish
Chart countdown as a "One For The Future" song. This suggests that
it may do well on the charts here. Fans should start requesting
this song overseas since it will be the next single in the U.K.
and Germany. (Thanks Paul S.)
MTV Brazil is promoting a poll to play one of Whitney's music videos.
The most-voted Whitney video will air on Monday. "When You Believe"
currently leads the competition due to interference from Mariah
Carey fans, followed by "I Will Always Love You," "Could I Have
This Kiss Forever," "If I Told You That" and "Something In Common."
Since CIHTKF is one of the newest songs and is ahead of IITYT, it
would probably be best to vote for CIHTKF for promotional purposes.

Excerpt from Mr. Showbiz interview with Will Smith:
Q: Is your production company still set to do a remake of
Diva for Whitney Houston?
A: Yeah, we're still talking about that.
Q: Do you think Whitney is getting fair treatment in the
press right now?
A: Oh, man, you know, you just always wish that people would
just leave folks alone, and let people deal with their lives. There
are obviously some things that she is struggling with in her life
right now, and it's like, just leave her alone, you know? Let her
have a minute.
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is up one place to No. 12 on MTV's
