The Whitney Weekday Request Campaign has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge blocks.

Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called BCC!!!

  • Non-AOL users click here.
  • AOL users have to use this different method instead.

Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses. Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the complete request list, because there are many links there that will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

On the Charts: The Greatest Hits takes a tumble on the Billboard 200, while "Fine" continues to grow without a single. Read the complete statistics from Billboard, plus No. 1's in the Netherlands and great sales news from Spain!

BMG Spain has started a second commercial campaign for "Whitney: The Greatest Hits." As reported a week ago, Madrid is filled with posters. But there are also television promotions now. The campaign is based on building the success of "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" here. In the original campaign, we saw takes of "I Will Always Love You" and "I'm Every Woman," and then it changed to IWALY and "If I Told You That." The Greatest Hits is now sponsoring "Crónicas Marcianas," one of the most-watched shows in Spain. (Thanks Juan Luis, Laura)

There are no singles from "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" so far in Japan. I e-mailed BMG Japan about this and they said, "We have no intention of releasing Whitney's singles." (Thanks Okuno)

"Fine" has dropped from No. 1 to No. 6 on the Top 9@9 on WBLS 107.5FM. Please click here to request the song! You'll have to choose five songs, so take care to choose four other songs that won't hurt "Fine." (Thanks Razak)

Here is an excerpt from a Reuters article regarding Whitney's situation in Hawaii at the moment, where prosecutors said recently that they will file charges against her. The following is only new information that wasn't published in earlier reports:

Pop diva Whitney Houston kept silent Tuesday on a decision by Hawaiian prosecutors to charge her with possessing about half an ounce of marijuana. Deputy prosecutor Charlene Iboshi said that if Houston decided to plead guilty, she could do so through paperwork without appearing in court. "At this time we are unable to comment,'' said a Los Angeles spokeswoman for Houston.

Music Charts Update: Great news from France and The Netherlands...

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" has been serviced to radio stations and music channels in France this week and is now on heavy rotation! The release date has not been announced yet. Also, Enrique Iglesias was interviewed this morning on "Fan de" and said Whitney is "The No. 1 diva" and added, "It's really easy to fall in love with her. She is really beautiful and her voice is magic. I had a great time working with her." (Thanks Melisande and Julian)

The song "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is up sixteen places to No. 10 on this week's Clipparade, as broadcasted by TMF Belgium. This chart is compiled by the viewers of The Music Factory Belgium. The duet debuted at No. 35 on the Factory 40, an alternative Belgium chart, also broadcasted by TMF Belgium. (Thanks Eddy VB)

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" moved up two places to No. 22 on this week's Singapore POWER98 Top 40. The smaller move may be due to a drop in requests as songs in the chart usually leap by five or six places. You can click here if you would like to request the song! (Thanks Gary)

Well Done! Whitney came in second (after Madonna) in the recent Singapore 8daysonline.com poll on who is the greatest diva of all. Our voting was able to eliminate a great deal of cheating that enabled Madonna and Mariah Carey to suddenly jump to astronomical numbers last week. Carey came in third while Celine Dion was fourth. Thank you to everyone who voted! (Thanks Gary)

Hawaii Comes Back: According to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, Hawaii County prosecutors plan to file a petty misdemeanor charge against Whitney within the next week for allegedly carrying a half-ounce of marijuana in January. First Deputy Prosecutor Charlene Iboshi said the prosecutor's office will charge her with third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug -- punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Following discussions with Whitney's Honolulu attorney, Brook Hart, prosecutors agreed to set the arraignment and plea hearing for Oct. 26 in Kona District Court, Iboshi said.
Whitney has until that hearing to voluntarily turn herself in, Iboshi said. If she doesn't, prosecutors will apply for an arrest warrant. "If [the judge] grants it, then it would be put in the state warrant system, and then if she comes back in the state, she could be arrested," Iboshi said. "For petty misdemeanors we do not extradite." The law provides for Whitney's attorney to appear in court on her behalf to enter a plea, Iboshi explained. However, if she were to plead not guilty, she would have to come to Hawaii for a trial. Defense attorney Hart would not disclose his intentions to the Tribune-Herald. The Court TV cable network already has applied for permission to cover the case.

For those who've been e-mailing me after reading stories like this and thinking that Whitney is going to jail, here's what this actually means:

    1) Whitney has not been charged yet, although a charge is expected in less than a week.
    2) Whitney was not arrested as a result of this charge. She also was not arrested in January.
    3) Whitney does not have to turn herself in. If she fails to appear, they can issue a warrant, but she cannot be extradited to Hawaii because this is only a petty misdemeanor charge. It is not characterized as serious, such as a felony.
    4) If she turns herself in and loses the case, she could spend up to 30 days days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine. She could also receive a lesser sentence, such as community service, etc. Thirty days is the maximum sentence.
    5) This latest move is an about-face for Hawaiian prosecutors, who earlier said they didn't have enough evidence to charge her. It is doubtful that they've acquired enormous evidence since then. It was a very simple case, one that some prosecutors even laughed about not being serious earlier this year.

Here's a glowing review of Sunday's first song, entitled "I Know." The group is co-managed by Whitney and Robyn Crawford at Better Place Records, under Capitol Records.

According to RollingStone.com, Whitney and Bobby are participating in the Million Family March on Oct. 16th in Washington, D.C. In addition to the artists, Simmons has support from industry reps from Motown Records, Bad Boy Entertainment, J Records, Spike Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule, Def Jam Records and Magic Johnson Enterprises. On the Charts: Read Whitney's complete statistics from Billboard, plus great news from Spain!

Note to all fans, particularly Billboard.com subscribers: It has come to my attention that I am being billed incorrectly for many of my news searches at their site. My online statement shows numerous examples where I was billed for more expensive archive searches rather than the latest, current material. Since I never have looked up any archive material, there is no reason why I should be billed for that instead of current searches. As a result, I am evaluating whether to continue to provide all the Billboard statitistics on Thursdays at these incorrect, higher rates. This may result in the complete statistics not being posted here until Tuesdays, but I will post as much information as I receive every Thursday, and will continue to provide Billboard articles that are released on Fridays. Apologies to everyone, but I've taken on a number of expenses as a result of this site, and don't see a viable alternative since I am being continuously billed incorrectly and their system is not being fixed. If you subscribe to Billboard.com and do not experience such problems, I would appreciate your assistance to provide chart news on Thursdays. Please e-mail me if you are able to help. Thank you.

Give him "One Moment In Time"
From The Mirror (U.K.): BRITAIN'S second gold medallist of the Sydney Games, the first in shooting for 12 years and in clay shooting for 32, was advised by a schoolmaster to forget a sporting career because his hand-eye co-ordination was so bad. It was probably the worst misjudgment of anyone's prospects since George Best was told he was too small to be a footballer. Not only did Richard Faulds triumph in the double-trap yesterday at the tender age of 23 - against an Australian to boot - he has in his short career managed a European championship at 20 and a world cup at 21, not to mention his four world junior titles.
The secret of Faulds' success Down Under? Whitney Houston and plenty of custard, not necessarily at the same time. The Hampshire marksman journeyed in the car towards his moment of destiny with Russell Mark under the influence of Whitney's searing epic 'One Moment In Time,' prescribed by sports psychologist Peter Terry.

That's Entertainment? The nominees for the first annual "My VH-1" Awards were released today. Whitney has been nominated solely for "Most Entertaining Public Fued" for her run-in in Hawaii last January which resulted in her name being dragged through the mud for the past nine months. You can click here to vote for someone other than Whitney in this category so she can be eliminated from the final group that may "win" the award. You can also write her name in for better categories. It looks like VH-1 is trying to top MTV in low-brow entertainment. (Thanks Rashad)

The streets of Madrid are full of double-sized posters of the cover of "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" that read: "Listen to it on Los 40 Principales radio station," which is the largest station in Spain. (Thanks Laura)

John Houston Entertainment has signed a marketing company for Whitney's worldwide licensing. Click here for the full press release.

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is at No. 12 in MTV's European Top 20 for the week of September 20th. It climbed five places. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Whitney will be featured on VH1's "Don't Quote Me" on Monday, Sept. 25th, at 7:30 p.m. EST. The show features music videos of pop stars and simultaneously shows comical quotes that the artist has said over the years. Sounds about as respectful as their countdown rankings. (Thanks CJ)

Yesterday Enrique Iglesias (who is now touring in Spain) was interviewed in Madrid by radio station Los 40 Principales, and he said that it was fantastic to make the "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" video with Whitney and that she is a great professional singer and a lovely woman. (Thanks Ana)

Arista is working on a U.S. marketing strategy for "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" for the fourth quarter. Full details are being worked on so not much is known except that TV advertising will feature heavily. It is unlikely that Whitney will be available for TV appearances. A possible movie project is in the wings. Meanwhile, Arista U.K. plans to reissue the Greatest Hits in a slip-case wallet cover with new artwork. The CD and original artwork will remain. The album will receive television and press advertisements through Christmas. Lastly, "Heartbreak Hotel" will be issued as a third U.K. single on December 4th following the release of "Could I Have This Kiss Forever." (Thanks Manish)

New Remix! Listen to the "Fine" DJ KaySlay-Faceoff Remix, an unofficial mix that combines the song with several different samples of other hits. (Many thanks Leon)

Check out this beautiful picture of Whitney and Clive Davis. It was taken during Whitney's Greatest Hits photo shoot, and was used as the background for a glossy ad in Arista Records' 25th Anniversary program as a printed congratulations from Whitney and Nippy Inc. At a glance, it appears to be the most endearing ad in the program, with the others opting for plain text messages instead. The program isn't quite just a program -- it's actually a hardcover book (complete with a dust jacket with the Arista Anniversary silver pattern) featuring biographical pages dedicated to the company's high-profile artists, including Whitney of course. (Many thanks Ashle)

Music Charts Update: "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" flies up The Netherlands singles chart and the Greatest Hits remains strong in Rio...

Success! "Fine" made it to No. 1 today on the WBLS Top9@9. Great job to everyone who voted for the song! Let's keep up the great work! (Thanks Razak)

"Fine" has been listed as a cassette single at CDnow for $2.99. It can only be placed on backorder. This looks a little premature as Arista has not issued information about a commercial single yet. (Thanks Makin)

USA Today has a ridiculous poll about which diva should retire next after Barbra Streisand. Click here and scroll down to vote for someone other than Whitney!

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" dropped to No. 4 on Singapore's Perfect10 Top 20 chart. The song is up to No. 24 from No. 30 on the POWER98 Top 40 countdown. You can request the song at POWER98 here. (Thanks Gary)

Please Vote for Whitney! Due to our votes, Whitney isn't as far behind as she was recently in an online greatest diva poll by Singapore's most read magazine, 8 Days. She is still at No. 3 (behind Madonna and Mariah Carey), but at a much better level than before. If we keep this going a little longer, we may be able to get her into the second position where she was before the cheating started. There is no limit on how many times one can vote, so just keep clicking the "Enter" button repeatedly each time. That's what Madonna and Mariah fans have been doing to get them unrealistically far ahead. (Thanks Gary)

Singapore's most read magazine, 8 Days, is conducting an online poll on who is the greatest diva of all. Please take a few moments to vote for Whitney at 8daysonline.com. She is currently at No. 3 (behind Madonna and Mariah Carey). There is no limit on how many times one can vote, so just keep clicking the "Enter" button repeatedly each time. That's what Madonna and Mariah fans have been doing to get them unrealistically far ahead in just the past 24 hours. Please vote! (Thanks Gary)

New York City's WBLS has placed "Fine" on rotation since a few days ago, and as of yesterday, it ws at No. 3 on the Top 9 at 9. Please vote for it so it can rise to No. 1! (Thanks Andrea)

Whitney is up one place to No. 2 on The Box in the Netherlands with "Could I Have This Kiss Forever." As we know, the song was the highest new entry in the official singles chart, and all signs suggest it will likely climb higher. (Thanks Leon)
