The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Music Charts Update: News from Germany
and Spain
From the "Insider" section of People Magazine: "Whitney Houston
was at the North Miami Beach funeral of her long-time throat doctor
Julian Groff, who died of cancer. Houston didn't speak at the service,
but her voice sounded perfect as she hit every note of "Amazing
Grace." (Thanks Sky)
Whitney and Enrique Iglesias' music video for CIHTKF won the viewer's
choice poll on Friday Night Videos on NBC last night by one percentage
point. That's good because many teeny bopper fans watch this show
and usually dominate the votes. (Thanks Steve W.)
TV Alert! Some good news for Belgium and Dutch Whitney fans!
TMF Belgium proclaimed next Wednesday (July 19th) as "Whitney Houston
Day." They will broadcast a lot of clips during the day. Highlight
of the day will probably be a special presented by VJ Katja at 6
p.m. Belgium time (her show is called "Katja's Company"). Viewers
will likely have the opportunity to win some nice Whitney goodies.
(Thanks Eddy VB)
The duet "If I Told You That" dropped two places this week on the
Clipparade of TMF Belgium, a chart compiled by the viewers of The
Music Factory Belgium. It's now at No. 9. (Thanks Eddy VB)
Enrique Iglesias was on "MTV In Touch" on German MTV today. He was
asked who he thinks is the sexiest woman in showbiz and he said
that it is Whitney Houston for him. He also said that to be sexy
doesn't mean to walk around barely dressed, but it means to have
style, elegance and that certain something. (Thanks Simon)

Should Whitney Duet With?" Check it out! |

Deborah
Cox Speaks: Deborah Cox was interviewed on radio station
CHUM FM in Toronto, and of course they asked her about singing the
SSDC duet with Whitney. Deborah said the duet was a dream come true
for her. When she read the lyrics she said it would be great if
she could sing it with Whitney because it is about two women, with
one trying to teach the other about a relationship. She said she
would just love to have Whitney teach her, and they approached Whitney
and she loved it. She said yes she would love to do the song with
her labelmate, and they recorded the song together in Los Angeles
in April right after the Arista 25th Anniversary.
Deborah also said she would not like to be in Whitney's shoes because
everyone has her under a microscope. She said Whitney was very stressed
with all the rumors about her and said everything the media says
is false. Deborah also said Whitney has to have a lot of security
with her everyday, plus with everything that went on with Bobby,
plus raising her daughter, plus her career, she was very stressed,
but when it comes time to do what she has to do, she gets the job
done.
Deborah also saw Whitney in Atlantic City and she said her concert
was great and she was in good voice. Deborah also said the video
has not been filmed yet for SSDC. She is just waiting for word on
when it is going to be scheduled, but there will definitely be a
video. She also said SSDC will be on her new CD, and she repeated
it was a dream come true to work with Whitney. Then the radio station
played SSDC, and the DJ said it is a pretty song. (Thanks Janet)
From Deborah Cox
web site: "I also want to thank you for all your requests
for Same Script, Different Cast, the duet I did with Whitney Houston.
I recently saw her in Atlantic City and we talked about how happy
we both were with your response to our song. Lots of you have been
asking about a video, but I can't tell you much yet. We still haven't
set a date." (Thanks Rachel)
From a live chat today with Deborah Cox:
Whitney --By Dano
Q: Do you plan to work with Whitney on more songs?
A: Definitely, we got together in April to produce "Same
Script Different Cast." It's always been a dream to work with Whitney
and when we came together to do this song I realized I wanted to
do more with her in the future. (Thanks Saira)

After posting some of our letters yesterday for the public to see,
Teletext has followed it up today with this article covering how
the Atlantic City concert story, as "reported" by the
New York Post, is completely false! You can send thank yous to them
at planetsound@teletext.co.uk.
Here is the article: |
WHITNEY STRIKES BACK
The promoter of Whitney Houston’s recent concerts at Caesar’s
Palace in Atlantic City, has hit back at claims that she lost
the plot on stage. Rick Gallagher rubbished a New York Post
story that she repeatedly forgot the words of "I Will Always
Love You" to sing "American Pie." "We were pleased with the
high level of professionalism exhibited by Whitney Houston,"
he said. (Thanks Craig)
|
Olivia
Fox, from WKYS 93.9 FM in Washington, D.C., said she has been inundated
with e-mail from Whitney Houston fans regarding the New York Post's
false story. Although she wasn't too complimentary about the fans
who have e-mailed her, she said she is a Whitney fan. She stated
she only reports what she gets on the newswire (basically without
regard for assessing how true something is). (Thanks Manish)
Yesterday on radio station Z104
here in Hampton Roads, Virginia, it was reported that the manager
at Caesar's has spoken up for Whitney saying that all of her concerts
were nothing but professional, and her voice was great. He says
that he doesn't know where or how the rumors got started, but that
they are COMPLETELY false. (Thanks Jay)
"Whitney:The Greatest Hits" remains at No. 2 on the FNAC's Top 20

for Whitney to bring her back to No. 1! (Thanks Julian S.) |

New York Post's Nose Keeps Growing!
The Post published the following brief article today regarding Whitney's
July 1st performance in Atlantic City. You'll notice that they are
no longer pushing the claims that Whitney sang "The Star Spangled
Banner" and "American Pie" during the show, despite
failing to print a retraction. Now, they are trying to say Whitney
was in truly bad voice that night, in a desperate attempt to salvage
any shred of credibility they thought they had. However,
THE TRUTH is that they were offered a recording of the concert and
they said they'd come back if they wanted it. They didn't go back
for the tape. Instead, in their typical style, they've published
another lie to try to bolster their original false story: |
We're waiting
IF Whitney Houston sounded so good on July 1 in Atlantic City,
why won't her reps send over a tape of the concert? Her flack,
Nancy Seltzer, never called us back before we reported how Whitney's
voice cracked, and she didn't finish some songs. The next day,
when Seltzer's minion called to complain, he offered to send
us a concert tape. But no tape arrived. The spin doctors must
have decided on Plan B, which was planting a story in the Daily
News saying how great Whitney sounded. Yesterday, when we asked
Seltzer's office why they didn't send the tape, they said, "We've
decided not to." Maybe they listened to it?
|
|
First
they print a fabricated story, then they quote a fan out of context
to make it appear that there is support for their claims, and
now they've published another false story. If you're tired of
being lied to by the New York Post, please e-mail rjohnson@nypost.com
and CC: it to scuozzo@nypost.com, gossip@nypost.com and letters@nypost.com.
Due to our collective efforts, they are not getting away with
this. The actions of PAGE SIX and reporter Paula Froelich are
an embarassment to the Post and an injustice to real journalists,
as well as members of the public who value fairness and accuracy.
At the very least, retractions and an apology to Whitney Houston
and all of her loyal fans are in order. With every attempt to
hide the truth, the Post's PAGE SIX actually lifts its mask and
reveals its desperation.
The Teletext Site Prints the Truth! After receiving our
e-mails and reading the latest articles, the site has posted three
fan letters to discount the New York Post article. Here is their
reply to Whitney fan Trevor P. --
"Thanks for your letter. It's true that we did quote the
New York press reports on Whitney's recent concerts and in retrospect
we regret giving airspace to what we now know was an erroneous
report. However, we have done our best to correct the impression,
screening three letters of rebuttal similar to yours."
Thank you notes can be sent to planetsound@teletext.co.uk.(Thank
you Trevor P.)
A few
days ago on Polish Internet portal Interia,
they wrote the lies about Whitney's concert in Atlantic City,
so I wrote to them and told them that their information was a
lie, and directed them to the fan sites. Today was a nice surprise
when I received an e-mail from them. They said: "Thank you very
much for drawing our attention to the subject of untrue information
about Whitney Houston's concert. This information was distributed
by a few agencies, so we didn't have any foundation to suppose
the this information is untrue (We don't see the New York Post).
It is a pity, our texts are for fans and we are glad that the
fans read them. We also value observations about our text. Sometimes
there are situations like this one that are not possible to avoid."
At their site, they wrote this
article to correct the false story. (Thank you Sylwia)
German Fans: You can read German translations of the most
important articles with regarding the lies by the New York Post
and the true facts by the New York Daily News, as well as the
letter by AirTranDan. The translations can be found here

In the latest issue of Ebony, Monica talks about how Whitney helps
her get through the struggles of stardom. "Whitney has always
had issues with rumors," she says. "She started calling me to
let me know she was there. She would ask me, 'Did they spell your
name right?' Then she would say, 'As long as they spell your name
right, you're cool,'" she laughs. (Thanks Sanitra)

New
York Post Story Crumbles!
The New York Daily News, the Post's main competitor in New York
City, published an article today that completely blows the Post's
story away! The Daily News article completely matches our account
of what actually happened during Whitney's July 1st concert in Atlantic
City. It's amazing what a real reporter can find just by picking
up a phone and interviewing people who actually attended the show.
Unfortunately, the Post did not do that last week, which resulted
in its completely false report. Read
the Daily News article here -- the TRUTH.
To top it off, the New York Post used a fan's letter yesterday to
try to support it's claims [see "New York Post Getting Antsy"
from July 10th]. However, they quoted the fan, AirTranDan, completely
out of context just to suit their purposes. In truth, AirTranDan
didn't support their story at all! As a result, he has sent a letter
to complain to the New York Post for their misuse of his review,
and he has also submitted that letter to the Nippy News so everyone
can see what he actually said about the show, and realize the exact
tactics the Post has used to try to support their false story. Read
AirTranDan's letter to the Post here.
We've won half the battle, but the fight to spread the truth is
not over yet. Please send the Daily News story to the New York Post
at: rjohnson@nypost.com

New
York Post Getting Antsy! MEMO to Whitney Houston: knock
it off. Call off the bombardment of e-mails defending your performance
July 1 in Atlantic City. It doesn't matter how many messages are
sent to PAGE SIX disputing how the diva's voice cracked and how
she didn't finish some songs, as we reported on July 6. It's clear
this is an organized campaign - and we won't be intimidated. Though
fans are being urged in chat rooms to "e-mail them [us] again and
again," actual concert-goers are posting reviews that jibe with
our version of events. "Shame on Whitney for scheduling two shows
on consecutive days," wrote AirTranDan of Philadelphia. "And shame
on me for spending $200 and having a dreadful time. This will be
the last Whitney concert I will go to."
This is inspiring! The little blurb listed
above was published today in response to the fact that the fans
have been spreading the TRUTH about the story they published last
week. They can cite people like AirTranDan all they want -- notice
the quote doesn't actually support any of the false allegations
written by gossip reporter Paula Froelich. They published
a false story, and they're not going to get away with it. The world
is slowly realizing that their story is wrong.
We will continue to let the world know that Whitney did not forget
the words to her songs, that she did not stop singing IWDWS, that
her voice did not crack on IWALY, that she did not sing mostly covers,
and that she most certainly did not sing "The Star Spangled
Banner" or "American Pie" at this concert, or the
other two either! And AirTranDan, if you're reading, it looks like
you need to make that clear too. You may have been one of the few
who didn't enjoy the show, but they are now using your name to support
outright lies.
Please send e-mails regarding Paula Froelich's report last week
to: rjohnson@nypost.com
and CC: it to scuozzo@nypost.com, gossip@nypost.com and letters@nypost.com.
The New York Post's PAGE SIX and Ms. Froelich cannot go unanswered.
Alan M. wrote the following letter, which was posted today at the
popular Electronic
Urban Report web site -- "I really want to write this letter
to EUR because I knew that you would get the word out. On Saturday,
July 1st I drove to Atlantic City, NJ to catch a concert by Whitney
Houston. I left the show remembering why I'm a Whitney fan. She
didn't disappoint. Earlier last week, the NY Post printed a review
about the Saturday concert. The report was completely false. They
reported that Whitney was not there vocally, and she could not remember
the words to her hits. Then they stated that after forgetting the
words to her own songs, she began singing other artists' songs.
I was at the show on Saturday, and the report is not true! Whitney
was fine, and based on the reports on the two main fan sites --
ClassicWhitney.com and Whitney-fan.com -- she was just as good if
not better the other two nights. Why can't they cut Whitney some
slack? Enough already!" (Thank you Alan M.)
On to more pleasant subjects:
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" aired on TRL Wannabes today. The
host said that "wannabe" videos linger around 11th or
12th place. He said, "This is from Whitney Houston. She teamed up
with Enrique Iglesias and it is hot!" We have to vote
like mad! Whitney has a chance to make it into the countdown.
Also, we should try making some phone calls to MTV at (800)DIAL-MTV
so our requests won't all be e-mails. (Thanks Tre)

malicious lie.

about the reporter, Melanie Reid.
Please vote for Whitney's new video, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever,"

This week on Polish Radio Zet, there was a small interview
with Whitney recorded last year:
|
Q:
What do you remember the most from your childhood ?
W: Christmas, I think. I remember very well a day when
my parents was going somewhere, and I and my brother wanted
so much to go with them that we hid in back seat of the car.
Our parents noticed us when we was almost on the highway, and
of course they drove us back home.
Q: How old were you?
W: I don't remember. I must have been four, and I was
doing the same things that my brother did, you know, I tried
to imitate him.
Q: Your daughter Bobbi Kristina has now 6 years old?
W: Yes she is.
Q: What characterics has she inherited from you?
W: She has two parents. Her father and myself, we both
are singers, so after her Dad she has an incredible sense of
rhythm, and after me, the sound of her voice. I'm sure that
Krissy will be singing in the future. If she will do it professionally
or not is her matter, but I know that she will sing wonderfully.
My daughter says that she will be profesional singer, but that
can change. Children one day want to do this and the next day
they want to do something else. I know that in her is a real
artist. She moves like her Dad -- she dances so incredibly like
Bobby. (Thanks Sylwia)

Whitney
and Bobby reunited in Florida!
Fox News Online Prints the Truth! Roger Friedman, who writes
a column entitled Fox 411 at their site, wrote an
article that debunks the New York Post's story about Whitney's
performance last Saturday! He looked into the story based on a letter
I wrote, and took note of our reviews
at this site. Every letter counts! It does make a difference!
Others Get It Wrong: Dotmusic updated
its story that it lifted from the New York Post to reflect what
the fans are saying. While that is progress, it failed to retract
its story and still lists a number of articles it copied from tabloids
like the National Enquirer. If they had only attempted to verify
the Post article, they would have learned there in only one side
to this story -- ours! If you would like to send a letter to Dotmusic,
you can e-mail them here,
and CC: it to --news@dotmusic.com, editor@dotmusic.com
Probably the most shocking of all -- MSNBC lifted the story and
reported it during an entertainment segment called "The Scoop" during
Brian Williams' evening newscast on July 6th. Apparently no one
has any standards anymore. The reporter is Jeanette Walls, who appeared
regularly on the E! channel's gossip shows. She qualified her story
by adding that she was only reporting it because "We all love Whitney
and want her to do better." If she loved her, she would have checked
this story in advance! You can e-mail her and inform her that the
story is a total lie at
Scoop@msnbc.com.
In addition, 93.9
FM in Washington, D.C. also repeated the story, as well as Wendy
Williams at Power 99 in Philadelphia. You can e-mail Power 99's
morning show producer at ronhouston@power99.com
and their assistant program director at gboy@power99.com.
Just click on the links if you want to inform them of the truth!
According to Billboard,
Junior Vasquez has remixed "Same Script Different Cast."

The
New York Post has published a completely
false and ridiculous account of Whitney's Atlantic City concert
from last Saturday. The article states a slew outright falsehoods,
which in turn, have been picked up and repeated by other media organizations
across the country. As everyone knows from the fan
reviews posted at this site, Whitney did not do a single thing
during the show that is listed in the Post article. And as a member
of the Saturday audience, I can't stand by while anyone tries to
turn a great night into a lie. The Post did not have any of its
staff in the theater, and instead based it's story on lies and hearsay.
If you would like to make an effort to set the record straight,
you can e-mail the New York Post at the following address:
rjohnson@nypost.com
and CC: your e-mail to scuozzo@nypost.com and gossip@nypost.com
Just take care to remain calm and polite, and to not use profanity.
In addition to the Post, you can also write to WKTU-FM,
which repeated at least part of the story this morning. However,
WKTU did not write the article, so you should merely write a note
to inform them about how the story is false. WKTU does not deserve
to receive complaints like the New York Post. That station has been
very favorable to Whitney over the past year.

There
is a new "Same Script Different Cast" remix that is not a club mix.
It's midtempo, and the vocals are exactly the same but the beat
is different. It starts in a similar way compared to the song "I
Need To Know" by Marc Anthony, with a violin playing. There's also
a version that starts with a guitar playing instead of the violin.
Then there's another beat that comes in, but it's hard to explain.
It's a "dom dom dom" sound, almost like something you'd hear in
a Christmas special, followed by a bass line, and a sound like water
droplets. Toward the chorus, it speeds up a little and then returns
to how it sounded before for the verses. It's off the hook. (Thank
you Anon)

World Charts Update: U.K.
news plus 17 additional countries
Whitney Houston at Caesars
WHAT TO EXPECT: The pop/R&B singer/actress sold tens of millions
of albums worldwide and helped break the racial barriers that limited
black artists exposure on MTV. Houston, a Newark native, last performed
in Atlantic City at Trump Taj Mahal on Nov. 13 and 14, 1998. Her
set list included the songs "You Give Good Love," "I'm Every Woman,"
"Queen of the Night," "I Learned From The Best," "If I Told You
That," "My Love Is Your Love," "How Will I Know" and "Step by Step."
During that show she struggled with some of those hits. According
to a Press of Atlantic City review, "Houston showed flashes of brilliance,
but her voice couldn't handle a full 90-minute performance. By the
fifth song of the concert it was evident Houston couldn't hit all
the high notes." [This fails to mention that Whitney had just finished
MLIYL at the time and was hoarse from the six weeks of recording.]
WHAT'S NEW: Houston's Caesars concerts are her only concerts scheduled
anywhere in the world at this point to promote her new album "Whitney:
The Greatest Hits." Released on May 16, the two-disc set has already
been certified double platinum. She could be seen during the two-hour
taped special "25 Years Of #1 Hits: Arista Records' Anniversary
Celebration" that aired on May 15 on NBC-TV. Most of the recent
news about her has been negative. She failed to appear at the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame dinner during the winter. Her performance
at the Academy Awards in March was canceled. An airport security
officer in Hawaii said they found a half ounce of marijuana in her
bag in January.
SHOW INFO: 10 p.m. Friday, June 30, 9 p.m. Saturday, July 1 and
Monday, July 3 in the Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars Atlantic
City. Tickets $85 to $100. (Thanks Steve W.)
Whitney's Greatest Hits is listed at No. 10 in the Tower Records
Top 25 in Argentina. In the first weeks at Tower, there were no
merchandise displays, but since 10 days ago, big posters are at
the entrance. There is still no publicity for the double CD in the
country, and the first CD store chain in Argentina - Musimundo -
with branches almost throughout the country, is not selling the
Greatest Hits yet. (Thanks Erick)
In the July 17th issue of US Weekly, in the Newsbreak section, there
is a story about Whitney. "Houston Update: Her Man, Her Contract,
Her Health." A piece of the article reads: "Rumors have been circulating
among current and former associates of Houston's that she has finally
sought treatment at two substance abuse clinics. Her spokeswoman,
Nancy Selter, denies this: 'While others are busy spreading falsehoods
about her, Whitney has been busy working.' Houston has three big
shows ahead, June 30 and July 1 and 3 at Caesars Atlantic City,
her first public performance since the April 10 taping of the Arista
25th Anniversary. The dates promise to be the most scrutinized of
her career. Arista is reportedly offering Houston a $5 million advance
for a five-record deal along with a 25 to 30 percent share of the
royalties (the standard is 12-18 percent). Though Houston is close
to Davis, she is said to be leaning toward Arista, where she has
been for 17 years. 'They want her to get well,' says an Arista insider,
'and arrange a big comeback on the public front. But they have to
let her get healthy first.'"(Thanks Ezequiel) |

concert was fantastic!" It appears to include the full
set list.

the TMF "Clipparade Top 30" as broadcasted by TMF Belgium today.
It's now at No. 8. VJ Inge said it's the fastest climbing clip in
the chart. (Thanks Eddy VB)
