The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Music Charts Update: The latest
chart news from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands...
The latest issue of Billboard
indicates that CIHTKF is a new addition to MTV's playlist, so let's
request
like mad! It's also listed as a new video on The Box music channel
for a fee.
Next Friday on July 7th, VH-1 (United Kingdom) will air a program
called, "Ten of the Best : Whitney Houston." It's a countdown of
Whitney's ten best videos ever, according to VH-1. They broadcasted
a similar Top 10 last year on Whitney's birthday as part of a Whitney
Houston-day. Last year's Top 10 contained two videos which are not
available on the Greatest Hits DVD/video ("Love Will Save The Day"
and "One Moment In Time"). (Thanks Eddy VB)
IITYT is No. 2 on France's Fun
Radio playlist. The song was No. 1 yesterday but Mariah Carey
took first place today. So let's all vote for Whitney on Fun Radio
since the airplay is based on the votes only! The results are aired
every Friday afternoon. Separately, the Greatest Hits is the FNAC's
No. 1 R&B album! (Thanks Julian S.)
The German magazine "MAX" includes a four-page article about Whitney.
The article is quite negative and speaks of Whitney's image problems,
alleged drug problem, Bobby Brown and so on. There are a few photos,
including two official Greatest Hits pictures printed on two pages.
Fans can read the complete article here.
The author wants feedback and questions about the article to his
e-mail address, so be sure to
give him a piece of your mind!(Thanks Daniel, André S.)
In addition, Daniel's
site has a new "Whitney City-Guide" where fans can meet other
fans who live nearby and post shops where you buy Whitney items.
BMG Backstage
has a contest to win a thermos or tank tops that include the "Whitney:
The Greatest Hits" logo. All you have to do is complete a few
song titles and identify the other singer in her new IITYT duet.
Easy!
From The Daily Record: New 17-year-old UK teen sensation, Samantha
Mumba said, "I'd love to meet Whitney Houston. It's any female's
ambition to have a career as successful as hers." She later went
on to say: "I realize that I can't have her voice, as nobody ever
will, but I hope that I have her temperment towards the media as
they give her so much stick and always write about the negatives
like the [alleged] drugs, and not the positives like her record
sales or awards." (Thanks Paul S.) |

Same Script
Different Cast: As we know, the 12" vinyl is expected to be released
on July 4th. There are many different names being tossed around.
Junior Vasquez and Jonathan Peters are confirmed, and Victor Calderone
(Madonna's "American Pie") is being talked about. The Hex Hector
& Peter Rauhofer mix may have been canceled. The Jonathan Peters
Vocal Mix, Dub, and Smooth Mixes 1 & 2 are all done and are phenomenal.

In January 2001, the third edition of ROCK IN RIO, a music festival,
will be held in Rio de Janeiro. There is a website
where we can vote for the artists we would like to see perform.
Everyone can vote, even if you're not from Brazil. You must fill
in with the information they ask: Nome (Name), Email, Idade (Age),
Cidade (City), Estado (it will be pre-selected SP, you can leave
it like this if you're from outside Brazil), and below, there
are six drop-down menus. One column is for International Artists
(Artistas internacionais). Whitney is not on the list, so you
can choose any artist you want. The important thing is to fill
the space Outras (others) with Whitney's name. At the national
artists (Artistas Nacionais) menu, you can choose whatever you
want. As the process might not be completed if you don't fill
all the spaces, I selected one name of a Brazilian artist that
is not on the list, and you can fill the space of Outras at the
national menu with this name: Sandy & Junior. Please vote for
Whitney, because the production staff is taking the voting into
consideration. (Thanks Fernanda)

Whitney
supports Jubilee 2000 Debt-Relief Campaign
From Entertainment Weekly:
WINNER OF THE WEEK -- E. Lynn Harris. The best-selling author (Abide
With Me) has been tapped to cowrite the screenplay for the upcoming
remake of the 1976 film Sparkle, which will star R&B singer
Aaliyah and be produced by Whitney Houston's BrownHouse.
Tower Records

Desmond)
Let's vote for Whitney and George Michael in the RFM Top 25, a Portuguese

get to No. 1 if we vote for it. You can vote either by e-mail here,

Arista issues press release on the
global success of "Whitney: The Greatest Hits."
From New York
Daily News: Clive Looks To Thrive --The list of Arista artists
planning to follow Clive Davis to his new company is beginning to
take shape. Boy band LFO, R&B singer Deborah Cox and 13-year-old
singer-songwriter Shannon Curfman are expected to join Davis at
his new BMG-funded label, according to sources close to the negotiations.
I'm told rapper Q-Tip is free to make the move, if he chooses. But
where does that leave Arista's three biggest-selling stars: Whitney
Houston, Carlos Santana and Kenny G? The jury is still out. Houston
still owes Arista two more albums. Her rep declined to say whether
she might try to force Arista's new chief, Antonio (L.A.) Reid,
into letting her go with Davis. Santana is expected to make
his feelings known in a press conference tomorrow. A source tells
me the guitar wizard "is 99% staying" at Arista. His rep declined
comment. Same for a spokesman for Kenny G. BMG spokesman Keith Estabrook
says, "There is no official announcement at this time."
Last night on the NBC
show "Later," the scheduled guest was actress/dancer Khandi Alexander.
She plays Eriq LaSalle's sister on "ER," and was on the
now defunct show "Newsradio" -- |
Khandi talked of a time back in the late 1980s when she was
at an awards show and Whitney swept the awards. She said she
went over to Whitney and told her how great she thought Whitney
was, and Whitney said something like, 'Wow, no one ever thinks
of talking to me.' Then she got a call one day saying that Whitney
wanted Khandi to go on tour with her, and to be her choreographer.
Khandi did go on to be Whitney's choreographer for 4 years,
and the tour she choreographed was the "I'm Your Baby Tonight"
tour. She also choreographed the IYBT video. The host then asked
Khandi , after knowing Whitney for some time, and being friends
with her, what did Khandi think of all the rumors surrounding
Whitney lately. Khandi said, "I don't belive what I read."
Then she talked about when she was on tour with Whitney and
how the media would report stories that she knew weren't true.
Khandi gave an example of one day when she was reading a story
on Whitney, and the media had said something like, 'Oh, Whitney
was in this city, doing this.' And Khandi thought, 'What? But
we were in another city last night doing a concert.' So Khandi
went to Whitney, and asked about it, and Whitney said, 'Oh,
there's nothing I can do about it. They are going to print those
stories no matter what.'
Khandi said the media has always been printing false stories
about Whitney. She said she didn't know how Whitney could handle
all that fame and publicity, especially the negative stuff.
Khandi said that if it was her, she would want to crawl under
the covers and never come out. Khandi and the host also talked
about how much they respect and like Whitney and how much she
has accomplished. Khandi had nothing but praise for her. (Thank
you Tiffany P., also Jay)

From PageSix.com:
Looking not at all like a cocaine addict, Whitney Houston made a
good impression on the crowd at the South Plainfield Middle School's
graduation ceremony in New Jersey on Thursday. Houston, in a bright
pink dress, came to see her eighth-grade nephew Gary Michael Houston
receive his honors. Two bodyguards and a cop kept relatives of other
students from getting too close. (Thanks Nikki)

Excerpts from an Entertainment
Weekly article regarding Aaliyah, who will star in a BrownHouse-produced
remake of "Sparkle" -- |
...It's been a good few weeks for the 21 year old, who on June
7 signed to play the title role in Warner Bros.' update of the
'70s girl group cult film ''Sparkle'' and last month agreed
to star as the titular vamp in the same studio's adaptation
of Anne Rice's ''Queen of the Damned.'' Says ''Sparkle'''s coproducer
Debra Martin Chase: ''When we approached Warner Brothers about
doing the remake, they had begun to see the dailies on 'Romeo
Must Die,' and they knew they had a star.'' ...''Queen'' starts
shooting Aug. 21 in Australia, and ''Sparkle'' is in ''priority
development'' for a start date next year.

Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band speaks of Whitney and Bobby: "(In
March) we were in Orlando, Florida. Whitney Houston and Bobby came
out of the crowd during a Gap Band show at Universal Studios. The
streets were packed with about 25,000 people and my wife spotted
them in a corner with their security guards and went and got 'em.
Bobby Brown hit the stage and said 'Whose house is this?' and the
crowd said 'Charlie Wilson's House' and he said 'Oh, OK.' Then me
and Whitney got at it on the microphone and we really brought the
house down. That's the first time I ever got to sing with her. I
always wanted to sing with her and so many people have kept me away.
We got together that night and to'e the house down. It was great.
I'll put it to you like this. I raised Bobby Brown when he was still
with New Edition." (Thanks Alan M.) |

Filmed over two days in a New York soundstage, Whitney and Enrique
steam up the screen in the video for their first ever duet.
More than 50 extras joined the pair on the watery set, which
was built specifically for the video.
"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is the first single
from Whitney's Greatest Hits CD, which has sold more than
4 million copies worldwide. A spokesperson for Whitney told
E.T. the singer hasn't had a song make this big splash in
radio airplay since 1992's "I Will Always Love You."
The duet also contains a bit of Enrique's Latin flair as both
he and Whitney sing in Spanish.

Translation
from BMG
Brasil: "If somebody doubted that the new disc by
Whitney Houston would be a success, the reply is given. In the top
of the charts of the entire world, the album 'The Greatest Hits'
reached first place in England, France and Ireland. The singer already
received Double Platinum in Japan and Ireland, Platinum

Holland, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Spain and Australia.
The duet with George Michael, in the song 'If I Told You That,'

is touched music more in the American radios."(Thanks Roberto,

Could I Have This Hat Forever: Whitney fan Alan M. has designed
a baseball hat especially for Whitney's online fans. The hats are
two-tone, with a black skull and khaki visor, and khaki-colored
writing. It will read Whitney Fan - AC2000 - Classic Whitney. If
he gets orders of five or more, the caps will be $16.99 each plus
tax. You can also have your name added on the back or side for an
extra $6. The hats are being offered as a service and no profit
will be made. Alan thought of it especially for fans who will

AC2000 on the hats), but fans who won't be attending that day can
also order them. For more information, you can e-mail him at AlanM1166@cs.com

I
am undergoing the lengthy process of revamping the Whitney
Weekday Request Campaign again. If anyone has radio stations
that should be added, please send it to the Nippy
News! As it stands, CIHTKF has been selected as the first single,

that SSDC, at the very least, will be issued on 12" vinyl, so you
can request that song at R&B stations as well. Thank you!
From Liz Smith's syndicated column: There's no denying the staying
power of Whitney Houston. Whitney's "Could I Have This Kiss Forever"
duet with Enrique Iglesias is the singer's fastest-rising single
since her behemoth, "I Will Always Love You." And Whitney's film
company, BrownHouse Productions, soon begins the remake of 1976's
"Sparkle" starring new music sensation, Aaliyah. Say what you will
about Whitney - and haven't we all had plenty to say! - strictly
career-wise, she's never been healthier. (Thanks Michael)

From Argentina's La Nacion newpaper:
Whitney: Voice and style against repertory. She is generally more
liked for her voice and style, besides her repertory - too much
agreed to the more spontaneous popular tastes, that evoke, in opinion
of the critics that admire her, voices such as Aretha Franklin and
Lena Horne. Many people would like to hear her sing jazz. Anyway,
Whitney: The Greatest Hits, her new CD, promises to be a sales success.
