The Whitney Weekday Request Campaign has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge blocks.

Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called BCC!!!

  • Non-AOL users click here.
  • AOL users have to use this different method instead.

Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses. Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the complete request list, because there are many links there that will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

The hip hop flavored Source magazine previews the hottest summer releases in their July issue now on stands. Wyclef Jean, who we all know produced the blockbuster title track from Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love" LP, is apparently calling in the favor. Wyclef's "Ecleftic: Two Sides Of A Book" features the cut "However You Want It" allowing him to answer stabs from Cannibus, his former protege. Clef even got supreme diva Whitney Houston to do the chorus, interpolating the hook of "My Love Is Your Love" with a bit of that "killing sound boys and MC's" flavor. Plus, he has cuts with Mary J., and Earth Wind and Fire. Could this be another Refugee Summer? The release date is set for midsummer but when's the last time a release date for a major hip hop artist was actually honored? However, whether it be late summer or early winter, it should be interesting to hear Whitney's first true hip hop collaboration with the always evolving, keeping it blazing Wyclef Jean. (Thanks Glenn)

On the Charts: Read the complete statistics on where Whitney stands in the U.S. and overseas!

According to the Platinum Club, members who bought tickets through the club will have assigned seats at Whitney's concerts in Atlantic City. There was some confusion about the seating because some fans who purchased tickets elsewhere have received general admission seats.

Clarification on Bobby Brown: The state of Florida dismissed the charge of cocaine in Bobby's system because it could not be proven, and if Bobby chose not to plead, the state of Florida may well have lost their entire case against him. Good grounds for a lawsuit from Bobby Brown. Bobby has served more active jail time than anyone can recall for a first-time D.U.I. charge. He was held to a higher standard than any other "average person," while he was never given preferential treatment by the court system. During his time at Broward County Jail, Bobby has been a model inmate. Internet media organizations should be challenged to cite specific examples of other cases in which one violation for D.U.I resulted in 75 days in jail. Internet sleuths, please research Florida's legal system, especially Broward county where several judges have been removed from the bench recently for ethics and criminal violations. The public should ask these media organizations to at least consider what is being said here and take up the challenge of doing their own research. The reporting can at least be fair and accurate. (Thanks Manish)

Janet Jackson mentions Whitney and Bobby: "I've always felt that you're never given a fair chance. Immediately when they (media) know (about a celebrity marriage), you know some people try and knock it or say it won't last. For instance, and not to bring them in it, but a lot of people did the same thing with Bobby (Brown) and Whitney (Houston). And I know they have their things that they are going through and they'll work through them, I hope so. But look how long they've stayed together ... Some people said, oh I'll give them six months or give it a year, and that's such negative energy. That's such negative energy going into a beautiful thing, and I wanted my privacy and to try and have a normal family life as much as I possibly could." (Thanks Alan M.)

Last night I saw BET's 20th Anniversary program for the first time since it aired. During the show, they had a segment called DIVAS and they started off in the 80's and mentioned all the divas including Tina, Aretha, Dionne, Diana, etc. Then the narrator said that's also the decade a baby diva would step into the limelight and would become a legend, during which two Whitney pictures came up, one from the Superbowl and the other from the MLIYL video. (Thanks Carolyn)

Back Off: Dionne Warwick grew a bit testy on local New York station WNBC's "Today in New York." Co-anchor Maurice DuBois asked the musician and ex-"Psychic Friends Network" pitchwoman about recent reports concerning her cousin Whitney Houston's alleged problems with substance abuse and/or calls for a family intervention on Houston's behalf. (The main point of the interview had been to discuss Warwick being named one of the legendary performers over the age of 60 in an upcoming issue of PEOPLE magazine, though the singer doesn't reach that landmark until this December.) When, in the closing moments of the segment, DuBois turned the subject to Houston, Warwick snapped: "I have an answer for that. I think, basically, that it's none of your business. And if anybody does care about it, they would just wish her luck. It's what goes on behind closed doors, and it's just nobody's business." (Thanks Brian)

Whitney has made some commercials for BET! The commercials are called BET's BLACK MUSIC HISTORY MYSTERY. She asks a question and then pictures of legendary music artists flash as possible answers. She then begins singing one of the songs as the answer. She was wearing a strapless top and her hair looked similar to the style in the CIHTKF video. She looked fabulous! (Thanks Carolyn)

    Chart news from Malaysia!

WHITNEY COMPETITION: On MTV UK/Ireland’s Lick R’n’B chart, host Trevor Nelson launched a competition today to win a special edition Whitney boxed set. It’s basically the Greatest Hits CD, video and DVD in a box, with the familiar picture on the front. The question is really easy: "Who was Whitney’s co-star in 'The Bodyguard?'" You can send your answers by e-mail here. Also, Whitney and George Michael entered the MTV R’n’B chart at No. 2 this week! (Thanks Craig)

During a commercial for VH-1's summer line-up, they flashed through scenes of things they were going to show, and they showed a shot of Whitney at the Arista 25th Anniversary special. (Thanks Lopez M.)

Whitney Issues Statement on Bobby's Pending Release: "I'm glad there is finally an end to this situation. I look foward to getting on with our lives and careers, and most importantly, to Bobby being at home with me and the children." (From Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood)

Click here for more information about the BrownHouse "Cheetah Girls" project.

Arista 25th Anniversary special to air in Brazil: DirecTV will air the show on June 15, 16, 17 and 18, at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. I don't know anything about the following weekend. In comparison, Argentina will get the special from DirecTV on both weekends, and the show airs at somewhat different times compared to Brazil, as previously reported. (Thanks Fernanda)

Probably the largest record store in Copenhagen, "M&M," has dedicated their largest window to Whitney, and is also having a competition where you can win the CD, DVD, jackets and T-shirts. Another record store, "Fona," completely sold out its stock of Whitney's Greatest Hits. (Thanks Stig)

Check out Clemens' request page specifically for German fans...

I was watching Singapore Channel 5 when suddenly a small entertainment news segment appeared featuring Whitney! It started with a brief introduction about her history and then featured short interviews with producers and artists Whitney has worked with. The most interesting part were interviews with Singapore fans on the streets! Most of them said that she may not be as popular here now, but she is all the more the best singer around! When compared with other "divas," many of the interview subjects said Whitney is unique, in a class of her own! (Thanks Gary)

Whitney and George Michael are due to appear on UK BBC TV this week on Top of the Pops. The screening is on Friday, but there's no word so far on whether it's a new recording or just the IITYT music video. (Thanks Craig)

The video for "If I Told You That" finally arrived on MTV Europe/UK. Starting today, we can request the song on MTV Top Selection. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Bobby to be released before 8th wedding anniversary...

In Trinidad, Whitney has been at No. 2 for the past two weeks on Discotrak's music store charts after debuting at No. 8. Discotrack is the only music store that has its chart printed in the entertainment papers, so to be at that level is GREAT. (Thanks Carolyn)

From Chicago Tribune: The likely next president of Syria, Bashar Assad, is described as "thoughtful, even tempered, a good listener, a computer buff, and a fan of Phil Collins and Whitney Houston ballads."

Dotmusic is holding a contest where you can win Whitney's Greatest Hits items. Check it out here.

While looking for Whitney on the long-running VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll, also check out the segment on Janet Jackson. Whitney is shown saying something good about Ms. Jackson. (Thanks Carolyn)

US Weekly: The full article has been posted for those who want to write letters to the editor. The article is basically a repeat of the recent People Magazine cover story. Even the cover of US Weekly is strikingly similar. The story is pieced together from old reports. The only new portion is regarding an alleged failed intervention last year, citing anonymous sources. Careful readers will notice that the article never actually states Whitney is involved in drugs directly in any fashion. It also describes a very loud incident that somehow managed to avoid the attention of tabloids for a year.
Speaking of tabloids, the US article shows a large cover shot of the National Enquirer at the start of it's story, while failing to offer any commentary on its allegations. The magazine never resorted to these tactics when it was published on a monthly basis. If you don't feel like reading yet another pasted together article on Whitney, then don't bother to read this story. There's really nothing new. If you want to write a letter, you can send e-mail here or mail it to: US Weekly Letters; 1290 Avenue of the Americas; New York, NY 10104-0298

They showed Whitney arriving in 1996 filmed by a hidden camera, Whitney and Bobby listening to Eddie Murphy in 1993, Whitney with Stevie Wonder backstage and introducing Will Smith in 1999. Maybe they'll broadcast it again!! (Thanks Marie-Eve)

An update on the outlook for this weekend's UK chart: Whitney failed to get the CD:UK No. 1, which may be an indication of tomorrow's official results. Also, MRIB are predicting no better than No. 6 for the pair. (Thanks Craig)

The German fans were not the only ones to see the "If I Told You That" video yesterday. The video also debuted on Dutch TV the same day. It was the so-called "Clip primeur." The VJ said she really liked the video and that it was a cool song. She also talked about the drug rumors, but it was not in a negative way for Whitney. (Thanks Gerda)

The Spanish TV program "Música sí" has just played the IITYT video today. Whitney and George Michael seem great together. (Thanks Laura)

Greek music channel MAD TV will air a Whitney special tomorrow at 19:30! It aired at 12:30 today as well. (Thanks Mina)

According to Billboard, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" will be released as a single on July 11.

MTV Germany showed the world premiere of the "If I Told You That" video today. The German fans are the first to see the video. (Thanks André S.)

Last night CeCe Winans was on "The Edge" with Paula Zahn [FOX] and Paula asked CeCe about the recent rumors about Whitney since they are good friends. CeCe said she has to talk with Whitney and if there is a problem she will be there for her and love her. When asked if she can confirm that there is a drug problem or deep concerns from Whitney's family, she said that she can't confirm anything. Paula then asked if she thinks being a successful person such as Whitney makes her a target for tabloids. CeCe said yes and added that when she met Whitney, she realized that she wanted to sing and sell albums without people knowing who she is. CeCe also mentioned that Whitney is a nice, loving and caring person. (Thanks Carolyn) You can read the transcript from the interview. Whitney takes up the majority of a conversation that was supposed to be about CeCe.

Here's a report about the Fun Radio interview that was broadcast in France today...

Chart News Update: Whitney moves up the CNN World Albums Chart, plus more!

According to HMV in Canada, the CD single for "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" will feature the "Love Will Save The Day" remix from the vinyl box set. It is the full 7:30 second version (Jellybean & David Morales 1987 Classic Underground Mix). As far as I know this may be the only place to get it on CD. They told me the release sheet had a street date of June 20. (Thanks Ken)

BMG Unveils IITYT Video! Click here to download the video from BMG Backstage. You will need Windows Media Player.
The video is set in a night club, and it's fast, which of course suits the beat. Whitney enters the night club, you can see close ups of her, and then she sits at a luxe seating area. She sees George Michael dancing and she walks through the crowd to him. Then they dance together with the crowd around them. It is a really good video, much better than expected. The video hasn't appeared on television yet. (Thanks Leon, Eddy VB, Carlos)

Whitney's BrownHouse Productions to remake "Sparkle" starring Aaliyah...

On the Charts: SSDC and CIHTKF make their debuts on the overall singles charts this week! Read the complete U.S. statistics, plus chart news from Germany and Spain...

From Hollywood Reporter: Whitney's Greatest Hits album scanned 84,500 copies to land at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, just 1,270 units less than the album ranked at No. 10 this week.

French fans: Don't forget Whitney's exclusive interview on FUN Radio, tomorrow at 6 p.m. (12 p.m. EST)! The interview reportedly may be available for listening at the radio station's web site as well. The station is even advertising the interview on TV, which is rare. I haven't seen the ad yet, but I've heard it shows Whitney during the Greatest Hits photo shoot. (Thanks Julian S.)

The IITYT single was released yesterday in Spain. (Thanks Laura)

It looks like we may have to settle for a little less than No. 1 when Whitney and George Michael enter the U.K. charts this weekend. Although Woolworths predicted a debut at the top spot, they were also the store that predicted Britney Spears would beat Whitney for No. 1 album -- we all know how that turned out. Now bigger predictors are suggesting that Sonique is going to retain the No. 1 spot on the singles chart for a fourth week. (Thanks Craig)

The Platinum Club is offering an Atlantic City Travel Package to see Whitney's three concerts later this month. The package apparently does not include a meet-and-greet with Whitney. The club had sold out its stock of concert tickets, and it now appears that the travel package is the only way to order tickets directly from the club now. For those who want to see Whitney in concert and do not want to buy the travel package, check out Ticketmaster.

You can vote in the final 'What's Your Favourite Whitney Video?' poll here. In addition, when you vote, you have a chance of winning a copy of the Greatest Hits video package. (Thanks Carlos)

MTV Russia has a list of the 100 best videos from 1999. Whitney's video for Heartbreak Hotel is at No. 44. (Thanks Igor)

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Wyclef Jean's upcoming album, "The Ecleftic" (due July 25) features a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and guest appearances by Kenny Rogers and WHITNEY HOUSTON. (Thanks Timothy Y., Javier)

On June 7th I wandered into my local Woolworths store to see how IITYT was doing, and to my surprise it was at No.1! Radio 1 will announce whether it is officially No.1 in the U.K. on Sunday. (Thanks James)

Whitney is in the Top 10 on the Radio 21 chart, RTBF TV's radio station in Belgium. (Thanks Marie-Eve)

"Whitney: The Greatest Hits" is down to No. 3 from No. 1 in the FNAC's Top 20 albums in France. Also, let's all vote for Whitney's ILFTB on Fun Radio's "FUN LIST." We can vote for her up to 5 times. Whitney is up to No. 9 from No. 10 last week! (Thanks Julian S.)

People Magazine II? According to various television and print reports, US Weekly Magazine will have a cover story on Whitney this week that rehashes much of the same alleged drug stories we've heard over the past two months. It also alleges that a failed intervention took place last year. More information will be available later in the week, including proper contact information for anyone who may want to write a letter to the editor.

New Screen Captures! See pictures of Whitney and Enrique Iglesias filming the music video for "Could I Have This Kiss Forever!" Access Hollywood said the song will be the first single from the Greatest Hits, and that the video will debut later this month. Whitney and Enrique were lipsynching to the original version of the song.

Dustin Hoffman told Entertainment Tonight that Whitney is up for the female lead in his upcoming movie "T For Thriller." He quipped: "If she commits I guess it's true. She's going to play a little Jewish person and I'm going to sing." Here's more information about the movie, as reported in the March 30 edition of The Hollywood Reporter. Hoffman's description of the movie, which has additional details, is listed below in yesterday's Nippy News. (Thanks Bud, John G.)

From Hollywood Reporter: Ending months of speculation, Arista Records founder and president Clive Davis has decided to stay with parent company BMG Entertainment in a deal worth about $180 million, sources said Tuesday. The deal with BMG, which is expected to be announced next week, calls for the creation of Davis Entertainment, whose primary directive will be a yet-to-be named label component that insiders say will instantly have the status of a major. Sources said other entertainment components, like a digital initiative, are likely. Of the planned joint venture, a BMG spokesman said, "Dialogues are continuing, but beyond that, no comment." Davis was unavailable for comment. Insiders say Davis, 67, chose to remain part of the BMG family mainly because of his relationships with the artists he has nurtured at Arista -- many of whom spoke out in his support during a bitter contract dispute with BMG. Davis and BMG are negotiating which artists will move from Arista to Davis' label. Sources said Whitney Houston and Santana are high on Davis' wish list. Davis, who discovered and signed Houston in 1984, when she was 19, helped propel her to superstar status. He also spearheaded Carlos Santana's career comeback album "Supernatural," which walked away with eight Grammy Awards this year, the most for any artist.

I went to HMV today and I got a look at the Arista Anniversary DVD. As far as I could tell there is no extra footage from Whitney's performance on it. The box reads that it contains four performaces that were not shown on TV. But acording to the tracklisting for Whitney -- everything that's included on the DVD was already shown. (Thanks Alan M.)

    Brazil Music Chart News...

Just came back from HMV in St Albans. Whitney and George Michael's IITYT is No. 1 and is said to be the Single of the Week. (Thanks Maddy)

SSDC was No. 1 in Baltimore on WERQ 92.3FM's 4 play at 4. CIHTKF was No. 4 in Baltimore on WXYV 102.7FM in their similar countdown. (Thanks Lopez M.)

CIHTKF Video Preview! Access Hollywood will show clips from the making of the "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" video tomorrow night! It's syndicated so everyone should check their local listings. They showed a clip of Whitney and Enrique singing together and sitting at the set. Whitney was wearing a light yellow dress with a pattern. The clip was too brief to describe anything in detail. The show characterized the video as "hot and steamy." Check here tomorrow night for more!

Another Movie Role? In addition, actor Dustin Hoffman talked briefly with Access Hollywood about a new movie in development. The movie is described as a thriller about a retired criminal who finds he has a dangerous illness. He then meets another person with the same illness and he said "it's kind of a love story." As for who would be his co-star, he said, "I don't know for sure. I know they're talking to Whitney Houston but I'm not sure." (Thanks David A., Margaret, Damon)

From Ask Billboard Column: Whitney Houston's duet with Deborah Cox, "Same Script, Different Cast," will be commercially issued on 12" vinyl soon -- though a release date has not been set yet. The single will sport extended remixes of the Shep Crawford-produced song. A music clip is also in the works, though it is unknown when it will be serviced to video outlets. (Thanks Reniko)

    Concert Notice:
I called the Platinum Club this morning to order tickets for the Atlantic City concerts and I was told they were SOLD OUT as of last week. They said we should try to get tickets from Ticketmaster. Tickets are listed as being on sale at the Ticketmaster site for $85 and $100.(Thanks Alan M.)
Note: The Platinum Club site currently lists its stock as sold out for the shows on Friday June 30th, and Saturday July 1. As of today, the site was still listing that the club had tickets for Monday July 3rd. However, customer service did tell a fan that their tickets were sold out, so it may just mean that the fan club hasn't updated their page yet.

According to previously published reports, the Arista Anniversary special will be on sale starting tomorrow on VHS and DVD. Click here for more details!

Music Charts Update: IFPI Greece, Denmark...

I was in HMV (U.K.) today, and while I was in the queue buying a CD I had a good look to see how the singles were disappearing. I knew Whitney's single would sell well, but in comparison to the other new releases it really did look like it was selling multiple times more. In addition, Whitney has been A-listed for the past several weeks on Radio 1. If you're on the A-list you are practically guaranteed Top 10, usually Top 5 -- draw your own conclusions. Whitney may at last be back to a U.K. single No.1, her first since IWALY. Keep your fingers crossed! (Thanks Craig)

I went to the record store to get my copy of the Greatest Hits, and was surprised to find it was not there. I phoned BMG New Zealand and they said it sold better than expected in Australia, which took the latest shipment. The man responsible for promotions assured me it will be here on June 12. I asked him about the IITYT single and he said that is coming around Christmas. He told me that her first single here will be CIHTKF. (Thanks Rommel)

This week we can decide which is the best video Whitney ever made. The "pre-selections" are almost over and the six songs now are:
  • Count On Me
  • I Believe In You and Me
  • Step by Step
  • Heartbreak Hotel
  • It's Not Right But It's Okay
  • My Love Is Your Love (Thanks EddyVB)

On June 4th, VJ Paul King played another two clips from Whitney's Greatest Hits in his popular "VH-1 The Album Chart Show" (U.K.). This week he chose to play (one more time) "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." (Thanks Eddy VB)

I was going to see the movie "Big Momma's House" and as soon as I walked into the cinema to take my seat I heard "Could I Have This Kiss Forever!" I was so shocked! So, I took my seat as the song finished and the radio announcer said: "That was Whitney and Enrique CIHTKF from 'Whitney: The Greatest Hits' in stores now from Arista. Here's another cut from her album, SSDC featuring Deborah Cox." Man, I was so happy. I started singing along with the music and I heard a few other people singing along as well. They played the radio version and at the end of the song the announcer came on again and said: "That was SSDC from 'Whitney: The Greatest Hits,' in stores now!" (Thanks Derric)

Last night at One Mighty Party 4 in Orlando, DJ Victor Calderone played the remix of "Same Script Diffent Cast." It sounded fantastic. Also, he played the entire Club 69 mix of "It's Not Right But It's Okay." The highlight of the evening however was the treatment that "I Learned From The Best" received. It was definitely the centerpiece of the evening with fireworks and other pyrotechnics timed perfectly to the music. No other song got any special treatment. Also noteworthy was that the party only went from 10:30 to 3:00 AM with at least a half hour going to Whitney's music. (Thanks Paul)

On Friday, MTV Select broadcasted a Love Song Top 10. Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" was at No. 2. The No. 1 spot was for Robbie Williams' "Angel." VJ Ulrika said that Whitney is really "fantastic." Finally a VJ with real good taste. Last Sunday, VH-1 broadcasted two Whitney videos on "The VH1 Album chart" (United Kingdom): "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and "I Will Always Love You." According to VJ Paul King, the Greatest Hits is the "ultimate" Whitney collection. (Thanks Eddy VB)

The June 5 issue of People Magazine states Robyn Crawford has stepped down as acting office manager for New Jersey based Nippy Inc. for unspecified reasons. She will be relocating to California. The issue gave no other details. (Thanks Chase)

Who knows if there's much to this "feud" story, but at least it helps advertise the new IITYT single. From Jam! Music:
The battle of the divas is now history. Whitney Houston and George Michael have ended their long-time feud, the London Sun reports. Their new-found friendship comes just in time to promote "If I Told You That," their new duet. The bitterness between the two singers was rumored to have spanned 11 years, and they even recorded their parts of the duet in separate studios. The two sorted things out during a meal in Washington. "Everything is fine between them now," an insider told The Sun. "They were really pleased to clear the air." "If I Told You That" is scheduled for release in the U.K. on Monday. (Thanks Saira)

Bertelsmann AG's Bertelsmann Music Group had its attorneys gather in New York on Thursday to begin working out a $175 million agreement to form a joint venture record label with Clive Davis, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing unnamed sources. Davis is being replaced next month as head of BMG's Arista Records, the label he founded, by Antonio "L.A.'' Reid, and BMG has said it wants to keep Davis within the company. BMG is likely to complete the agreement within the next two weeks, though talks still could fall apart, the paper said. Davis, who is credited with discovering acts such as Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen, said last month that he was considering at least five offers from music companies including BMG to start a new label.

IITYT Music Video Preview: Check out new screen captures from a recent Access Hollywood show that featured a clip from the video shoot!

According to BMG Backstage, CD U.K. will air a video clip of "If I Told You That" and behind-the-scenes footage tomorrow, June 3rd. (Thanks Sylwia)

Here is a promotional article from BMG Backstage regarding the IITYT single, which will be released on June 5th in the U.K....

From Billboard Magazine: The IITYT music video was filmed in N.Y. by Kevin Bray.

Chart news from Germany and Spain...

Clarification: The U.K. Greatest Hits DVD actually has the same tracklisting as the U.S. and Europe. BMG Backstage had reported a somewhat different tracklisting, but it turned out not to be the case. (Thanks Manish, Eddy VB)

From July issue of Sister 2 Sister Magazine:
Anita Baker ain't laughing at the Whitney Jokes.
I spoke with Anita Baker around the time that folks seemed to be attacking Whitney Houston left and right about her possible drug use. Anita was very distraught about it. She told me she's upset about people making jokes about Whitney. She explained that "Whitney is our Barbra Streisand and if you don't have anything good to say, don't help to destroy her." She said, "It takes us three generations to build a WHITNEY HOUSTON -- ARETHA FRANKLIN, CISSY HOUSTON, DIONNE WARWICK, on up to our Whitney." Anita went on the say,"The people on the radio don't mean no harm [White folks] do this to their stars, so we're supposed to do it to ours because that's what they do. But it takes us so much more to come up than it does for them." Anita was reaching out to help sister Whitney. The article goes on about the media and Black stars. On page 16 there is a photo of Streisand and the caption reads: Barbra Streisand is an icon and Anita Baker feels that Whitney should be treated like one, too.
In addition to the article, there is a two-page ad for the Greatest Hits, plus a photo of Whitney and Bobby posing with Puffy and Clive Davis after the Arista taping. (Thanks Alan M.)

The Greatest Hits CD was released today in Indonesia. The tracklisting is identical to the U.S. version. It is priced at Rp.140.000 (U.S.$16-17). There's also an ad on the front page of the main national newspaper, Kompas. It's the first time I ever saw a CD ad there. (Thanks W. Sebastian)

More details about Whitney's upcoming concerts in Atlantic City: Tickets are now available through the Platinum Club at $217 per pair. The limit is two tickets per person. The venue is the Circus Maximus at Caesars, holding about 1,050 people in a club-like atmosphere with tables, as opposed to an auditorium-like setting. The tables hold 4, 6 or 8 people. Alcohol is served, so you must be 21 to get in, or be accompanied by someone over 21, although Caesars frowns on the latter. I don't know if they'd actually stop people who are under 21 from going inside. Tickets also available via Ticketmaster at $85 and $100 before fees. (Thanks Ed S., Alan M.)

    On the Charts:
The Greatest Hits slips a little, while SSDC and CIHTKF continue to grow without the benefit of a commercial single. Read the complete statistics...

Check out the new Whitney Worship polls for the Greatest Hits!

Dutch TV channel TMF broadcasted the Top 90 of the nineties tonight and Whitney ended up at No. 12 with "I Will Always Love You." Last year she was at No. 29, so there's progress. (Thanks ZuZy)
