The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been revamped again. The U.S. states have been divided by
the letters of the alphabet. For example, if your last name begins
with the letter "A," you can proceed to the row for "A"
and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section. The letters
will change everyday. The goal for this new plan is to help ensure
that each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in
huge blocks. Check out the campaign list and you'll see how it works.
Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a Line For
BCC: (This does not apply to AOL
users, who have to do this a different way.)
If you try to send an e-mail message, you may notice that the window
where you compose your message contains a line entitled "BCC."
If you type a string of e-mail addresses, separated by commas, in
this BCC line, you can send one message to any entire group of radio
stations, and it will suppress the list of recipients. Therefore,
the radio stations will not be able to see that you also sent the
same message to other stations throughout the country. The only
thing that they will notice is that they can't see who else received
your message. If your e-mail software allows you to do this, check
out this list of e-mail addresses
from the Whitney Weekday Request Campaign. All you will have to
do is write a message, and then copy and paste the e-mail addresses
into your BCC line. DO NOT do this if your
e-mail software does not provide a line called BCC!!!
Since we don't want to look too suspicious, I'm also going to suggest
that we do a mass BCC e-mail by the first letter of your last names.
The letters will change everyday so we're not so obvious and over-bearing.
We don't want to target these radio stations so heavily that they
grow tired of us. If your last name begins
with the letter "I," you can try this option today!
Note:
While the BCC method described above will be quite effective, it
excludes many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the complete
request list, because there are many links there that will take
you to radio station web sites where you'll be able to send your
e-mail message easily. Thanks! |

Song
of the Week: Listen to Whitney's rendition of "Don't
Cry," a true gem of a recording from a 1994 AIDS benefit. The
song was written by BeBe Winans and originally sung by CeCe Winans
on the duo's album entitled, "Heaven." Whitney's rendition
will send chills up your spine. It's under the 1990s listing along
with other audio and video files.
Whitney has been nominated in as Best International Solo Female
artist at the 2000 Brit Awards. Because it is a 'Brit' award ceremony,
it's about the only award she was eligible for and she got it. She's
up against Britney Spears, Macy Gray, Jennifer Lopez and Mary J.
Blige. The awards will be presented on March 3rd. (Thanks Craig)
Check out these
screen captures of Whitney last year after the Oscars! (Thank
you Eddy VB)
French Chart News Update...
Although Whitney is slowing down a little on the French charts this
week, she keeps going strong on FUNRADIO's funlist! She is still
NUMBER ONE without fan participation, with 22,071 votes! The runner
up has only 15,821 votes! We can all vote for Whitney up to five
times here!
(Thanks Julian S.) |

New
RealVideo and Screen Captures: To celebrate the latest Super
Bowl, here's a look back to Whitney's definitive, platinum-selling
rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" from 1991 in Real
Video. Plus, you can also look at it in screen
captures! You can also listen to an already existing file in
RealAudio.
At VH-1's web site,
I found an interesting piece of news that talked about the year's
Super Bowl music acts, and it mentioned past music acts. "Bob Best,
longtime Super Bowl entertainment producer reckons that the greatest
'Oh, say can you see' came from Whitney Houston at Super Bowl XXV
in Tampa. 'It is probably the most famous national anthem of all
time,' he says." (Thanks Tiffany P.)
Great job to everyone who complained to the person in charge of

Whitney has been banned from this "Most
Popular Female Singer" poll! She used to be included. The person
who runs the poll said she will be reinstated if complaints are
received. So let's send some polite complaints to get Whitney back
into the poll. A poll isn't fair if it excludes certain artists.

According to an early report from Billboard, Whitney's "I Learned
From The Best" remix has shot up to No. 4 on the Hot Dance
Music/Club Play chart from No. 11! If it keeps this pace, it will
be yet another NUMBER ONE dance hit from the MLIYL album. Stay

Junior
Vasquez has remixed "Get It Back?" According to a DJ: Though
Junior has done a remix for "Get It Back," it does not guarantee
that there will be a single (don't forget the great Whitney classics
remixes that have been shelved so far). (Thank you Nic Mercy)
Listen
to a sample of Nic Mercy's "I Learned From The Best (Nic's
Hard Vocal Anthem) here! The remix is not issued by Arista,
but it's great! Check it out!
From the Hollywood Reporter: A telefilm based on the life of Vivian
Carter, founder of the Vee-Jay record label, is in development at
Whitney Houston's Brown House Entertainment. The movie, to air on
Lifetime, is tentatively titled, "The Vivian Carter Story" or "Nothing
Can Stop Me Now," after a Gene Chandler song. Carter, who died in
1989, and her husband James Bracken took out a pawn-shop loan to
start Vee-Jay in 1953. By the early '60s, Vee-Jay was the most successful
black-owned label in the United States. The company's artist roster
included Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, John Lee Hooker and
little-known (at the time) British pop group the Beatles, who later
defected to Capitol Records. (Thanks Dan)
"My Love Is Your Love" is the 12th best selling album
of the year in France. The single MLIYL reached No. 33, WYB No.
64 and HH No. 65. The only foreign artist before Whitney is The
Offspring (No. 11), because this year's French charts are dominated
by... French artists! (Thanks Bruno A.)
In Le Figaro Magazine, a French survey was taken asking people who
are the most beautiful women of the century. All categories gave
the top 10, except for the answers from all of France, which gave
the top 25. People had to give a name and a mark between 1 and 10.
Here are Whitney's results:
From all of France: No. 11; Mark: 7,08
France, excluding Paris: No. 6; Mark: 7,21
Women: No.10; Mark: 7,28
Less than 25 years old: No.4; Mark: 7,64
Whitney did not appear in the results for Paris, men, and people
who are 65 and older. One interesting point -- except for the
results for all of France, where Madonna appears at No. 25, Whitney
is THE ONLY SINGER in the list! (Thanks Audrey T.)
AOL Users Only: Here
are instructions on how you can send mass e-mails to radio stations.
This method will hide the fact that you're sending the same message
to DJs across the country! It's very similar to the blind carbon
copy (BCC) method described above, but specific to AOL users only.
If you don't use AOL, just ignore these instructions! I've set
it up so that it should be simple to do. (Many thanks to Dave)
In additon to the AOL instructions page, I've listed the Top
10 U.S. markets in the Whitney
Weekday Request Campaign page for fans who may want to target
those cities specifically, besides all the other locations that
are listed.

New Audio:
Listen to Whitney live from her Sheffield, England concert
on September 9, 1999! The following songs have been made available
to mailing list members:
1. Saving All My Love For You
2. Until You Come Back - a nice interpretation that's a bit different
3. IHN instrumental and IYBT with background singers
4. I'm Every Woman
5. My Love Is Your Love - with slightly different background music
6. My Love Is Your Love - rasta reggae jam
7. Why Does It Hurt So Bad
8. I Will Always Love You
(Thank you very much Rachel)
New Screen Captures:
Check out new pictures from Whitney's European music video for
"My
Name Is Not Susan!" The video pays attention to detail--
1. The first 5 frames explain who "Susan" is and her relationship
to the photographer in the video.
2. Picture No. 9 shows "Susan in concert" -- possibly from the
"This Is My Life" TV special.
3. At Susan's party in No. 15, you'll see Mike Tyson.
4. Frames 43-46, 49, 50, 54 and 58 were possibly filmed at Whitney's
home.
5. Rapper Monie Love appears in Nos. 78 and 79.
6. No. 93 features a fake print ad that "Susan" models for...
note what is written on the perfume ad! And read No. 94!
7. Frames 112-119 are the same as Whitney's music video for "I
Belong To You."
8. In frames 128, 129, 131 and 132, you may recognize the dress
the clerk is holding as the same dress Whitney wore at an NAACP
TV special in 1989/1990.
Is This a German Promo Release of the song "Get
It Back?" The front
cover looks a bit distorted and the back
cover looks electronically cut-and-pasted in my opinion. But
it is merely my opinion and I can't guarantee its authenticity
or lack thereof. However, judging from the reaction I've had at
the mere mention of a possible promo, as well as other indicators,
it's safe to say that many Whitney fans are interested in additional
releases and remixes from the MLIYL album. Hint! Hint! (Thank
you very much Anon)
According to Variety's review of the movie "American Psycho,"
Whitney's song GLOA is heard in the movie only as orchestral muzak.
Apparently, the film didn't get the rights to use Whitney's actual
music, although other artists were not so fortunate.
Whitney's "I Learned From The Best" is No. 9 on this week's edition
of the Worldcharts Singles! Let's
keep voting so that we may get ILFTB into the Top 5 now, and
then to NUMBER ONE! Just
click on their "Complete List" button and highlight
all of Whitney's songs that are listed in a row. Click "Done,"
and they are then added to your voting list. Then just submit
your votes.(Thanks

I was on my way to Orlando, Florida, so I took a United Airlines
plane. When the plane took off and the audio channels were available,
I noticed Whitney songs. I grabbed the audio book and saw that
on Channel 3 was the entire MLIYL and Divas Live/99. Between each
song, Whitney talked about the following song. I have to say it
was my best flight! (Thanks Roberto)

Whitney
is seeking new material for her Greatest Hits project. Her documentary
will be released, but her company is currently looking for distribution.
Even if it is not a wide release, it still can be considered for
the Academy Awards next year. In addition, the film "Anything For
You" may start shooting in late spring. (Thank you Mr. X)
UK Chart News Update...
The great news about the NRJ Music Awards, where Whitney won Best
International Album yesterday, is that the public's votes counted
for 75%, so the French really love "My Love Is Your Love!" Whitney
also was nominated for "Best Concert" and had in fact three nominations
instead of two! (Thanks Julian S.)
I was watching the NRJ Music Awards on TV. At least five stars who
presented different awards appeared too late on stage, sometimes
the teleprompter and microphones didn't work, and of course Whitney
did not appear! I think she really didn't miss anything. (Thanks
Simon S.)
"It's Not Right But It's Okay" was chosen as the Song of the

Whitney
won Best International Album today at France's NRJ
Music Awards. She did not attend the show although it had been announced
that she would. When she won, a man accepted the award and read
a statement. He said it was written by Whitney: "I am very sorry
but I am sick. I have a fever. It is something that is going around
the U.S. at the moment. The doctor did not allow me to take the
plane." Television station TF1, which aired the awards show, had
reported that Whitney was in France earlier this week, although
she was not seen. (Thanks Michelle S., Marie-Eve)
Today MTV aired "New Sensation," a profile of Christina Aguilera.
But if you watched the program you would think it was a Whitney
special of sorts. Why? Well for starters they played two of our
diva's hits as background music, namely: HWIK and MLIYL, and secondly
they showed a very young Christina on home video singing GLOA and
WDBHG. Then to top it off, Christina herself stated that in order
for her to practice the high note that was required of her to be
sung in the theme song from Disney's animated film "Mulan," she
practiced to a karaoke version of Whitney's "Run To You" and they
showed Whitney's video clip while Christina was saying this. She
went on to say that many people have viewed the Whitney note she
learned as the note that jump started her career because it gave
her the opportunity to do the Mulan project. Disney would not have
let her sing the song if she couldn't hit that note. But we all
know that Christina isn't the only one who's used Whitney as a guide
to perfect her vocal style. And all those who wish to succeed better
look, practice and learn. (Thanks Biko)
MLIYL is up to No. 10 on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 this week!
They played the remix version again. I think it's one of the Jonathan
Peters remixes. (Thanks Rachel) |

As we all know, Whitney has been accused of allegedly possessing
marijuana during a trip from Hawaii to San Francisco that ocurred
about 10 days ago. Since enough time has passed without an official
statement, I have consolidated all the information available regarding
this alleged incident here.
It would have been far easier to post this information earlier this
week, but I wanted to take as many precautions as necessary before
doing so. As it stands, this story is still full of holes and oddly
seems to only have been covered by an Hawaiian newspaper and the
Associated Press. Basically all other news services cited them as
sources and did little or no original reporting. The information
that has been reported so far is still very limited and as yet,
is not "officially" confirmed. I've also included statements
from other artists who stood up for Whitney this week, just to add
a little positivity to the situation. Whitney has not been arrested
or charged in the alleged incident.
The TV show "Exclusif" on TF1 showed the hotel where Whitney is
staying for tomorrow's NRJ Music Awards in France. The program also
showed an hotel room that either belongs to Whitney or Tina Turner.
According to the show, Whitney will be the first female artist to
sing at the ceremony. (Thanks Marie-Eve)
TV and Internet Reminder! The NRJ Music Awards will air
tomorrow on TF1 from 20:50 to 23:10 p.m. Belgium time, which is
2:50 to 5:10 p.m. EST. The awards can be followed on NRJ
WebTV. (Thanks again Eddy VB)

but it was a man singing, not Whitney! (Thanks Rachel) |

Chart
News: ILFTB moves up without the benefit of a commercial
single and could become yet another No. 1 dance hit for Whitney
if it continues its current momentum. The MLIYL album moves up
again, while the single holds its place in the Hot 100 Top 10.
Read the complete statistics...
According to
the Platinum Club, Whitney's management said her Greatest Hits
double CD set will be available in late March or early April,
which is about a few weeks later than Arista's original announcement.
(Thanks Michelle S.)
Arista has Whitney's
new release currently slated for March 21. (Thanks X)
From the soap opera "As The World Turns": As the character
"Camille" thought about a kiss between her and her love interest,
they played clips of the beginning and end of "My Love Is Your
Love." The beginning ended after Whitney said, "Turn me up. Turn
me up." The end of the song started right after and played
the chorus where Whitney justs repeats the verse along with the
background. The song ended at the point when Bobbi Kristina says,
"Claps your hands" twice. This was at the end of the character's
thought. This shows how popular "My Love Is Your Love" has become.
(Thanks Paula)
The MPAA has slapped the movie "American Psycho" with an NC-17
rating for sexual content. The film is based on a 1991 novel in
which a Wall Street yuppie divided his time between shopping binges
and slaughter, with occasional diversions to offer critical analysis
of Whitney Houston and Genesis. (Thanks Bud) According
to earlier reports about this movie, the main character listens
to Whitney and Genesis music. I haven't read the book, so don't
ask me why. In movies, psychopaths usually don't listen to pop
music.

Whitney
in France: She arrived at the Nice airport (just near Cannes)
this afternoon and flew to her hotel by helicopter. According to
BMG, Whitney will sing a medley of "It's Not Right But It's Okay"
and "I Learned From The Best" at the NRJ Music Awards! There aren't
many tickets available to the public for the awards because there
are so many stars attending the ceremony that the "Palais des festivales"
is not big enough. It is incredible how popular this event is! (Thanks
Julian S., Melisande)
The NRJ Music Awards will air Saturday on TF1 from 20:50 to 23:10
p.m. Belgium time. (That's 2:50 to 5:10 p.m. EST). As reported
earlier, the awards can be followed on NRJ
WebTV. (Thanks Eddy VB)
Whitney reached No. 11 with MLIYL and No. 23 with INRBIO on Canada's

Whitney didn't
win any American Music Awards tonight, or the AMA 1980s online music
poll, which was won by Michael Jackson. According to Entertainment
Tonight and the Associated
Press, she did not attend the ceremony because she is on her
way to France either today or tomorrow to attend the NRJ Music Awards,
which will be held later this week.
As you already know, BMG France has released a special edition featuring
the Whitney's albums "My Love Is Your Love" and "I'm Your Baby Tonight."
Here are the front and
back covers. (Thanks

Last night on the game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," they
showed a clip of the previous night and the contestant reached the
$250,000 level going for $500,000. The question was, "What is the
longest running No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100?" The contestant
said "I Will Always Love You," which is the wrong answer, but he
said it was sung by Celine Dion! Obviously he lost and was reduced
to $32,000! I thought he should have lost it all for saying that.
(Thanks Carolyn) Host Regis Philbin did apparently correct
the contestant's error and clarified that it is Whitney's song,
though. |

Whitney's MLIYL is still at No. 16 on Rick Dees' Top 40 this week.

They then played a snippet of the Thunderpuss remix. (Thanks
