Whitney Tops The Chart! Based on retail reporters, Hits Daily Double is now projecting that Whitney Houston's "I Look To You" album will top the Billboard 200
albums chart this week, selling an estimated 301,396 copies! If these numbers prove to be true, that would be almost twice the
weekly sales of the No. 2 album on the chart. It also would easily top the first-week sales of "Just Whitney," which had previously been
Whitney's biggest first-week seller in the Soundscan era. "Just Whitney" sold 205,147 copies in its first week in 2002. Congratulations
Whitney! (Thanks Johnno) Even though it is selling well, please buy the album if you have not already done
so! Thank you to everyone who has supported Whitney Houston and "I Look To You!"

More 'Oprah' Show Information: "Entertainment
Tonight" has released
this video interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she indicates that Whitney Houston was very forthcoming during
their recently recorded interview. (Thanks Larry A.) In addition, "Access Hollywood" published the following article:
CHICAGO - Oprah Winfrey’s upcoming interview with Whitney Houston is said to be a, "jaw-dropping, open, honest and candid"
conversation that the daytime talk show queen is calling, "the best interview I've ever done." Winfrey sits down with Houston
for a two-day interview starting on Monday, Sept. 14, where Houston discusses her marriage with Bobby Brown, drugs, rehab and
how her family saved her. "I think it's the best interview I've ever done. But I guess you're supposed to let other people
say that about yourself. I can't think of a moment, ever, when I had a stronger connection to the person I was interviewing,"
Winfrey said in a statement to Access Hollywood. "My approach to this interview was to not be judgmental in any way, and not
to go in trying to get her to say things to make a 'moment.' I just wanted to be able to have an honest conversation with her.
One woman to another woman. And the day of the interview I literally prayed about that all day long. I just wanted a connection
between the two of us. And that is what happened."
With friends and family looking on, including Clive Davis and her daughter
Bobbi Kristina, Houston brings down the house with an emotional performance of "I Didn’t Know My Own Strength" from her new album
"I Look To You," which is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts."I think whether you liked or loved Whitney
Houston before you will certainly have a deeper appreciation for what she has been through as a human being,” Winfrey
continued. "And I mean, the fans are just going to love her even more."
"The Oprah Winfrey Show: Season Premiere: Oprah And Whitney Houston – The First Interview" airs Monday, Sept. 14. "The
Oprah Winfrey Show: Season Premiere Part II: Whitney Houston's Show-Stopping Surprise" airs Tuesday, Sept. 15. (Thanks Rodney W.)
According to Music Week magazine, the single "Million Dollar Bill" will be released on October 5th in the U.K. This week it's ranked at No. 28 (up 6 places) on
the U.K. radio airplay chart Top 50. On the Top 20 Pre-release charts, the "I Look To You" album is at No. 18 (down 3 places) at Play.com,
it is at No. 13 (up 1 place) at Amazon, and it is holding steady at No. 11 at HMV. Whitney's new album was offically released in Belgium
on September 7th. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Oprah: Houston interview is best she's ever done
CHICAGO - Talk show host Oprah Winfrey calls her upcoming sit-down with singer Whitney Houston "the best interview I've
ever done." Winfrey said Monday in comments provided to The Associated Press by Harpo Productions that she "can't think
of a moment, ever, when I had a stronger connection to the person I was interviewing." According to Harpo Productions,
Houston's daughter and producer Clive Davis attended the interview. Houston also is to perform her new song "I Didn't
Know My Own Strength." The 46-year-old superstar hasn't done a major TV interview since 2002, when she addressed questions
about her drug use from ABC's Diane Sawyer. Winfrey kicks off the 24th season of Chicago-based "The Oprah Winfrey Show"
with the two-part interview with Houston on Sept. 14 and 15. [From The Associated Press] You can also view a
new photo from the interview. |

Whitney Wows Oprah Show: Whitney Houston taped a second
episode for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today, during which she sang "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and "I Love The Lord." Reports from
attendees at the studio say that Whitney looked and sounded beautiful. Oprah herself topped it off with this posting on Twitter today --
"Oprah in search of ceiling repairmen. Cause Whitney just BLEW THE ROOF off of Harpo. Grown men & women weeping in the aisles."
Whitney Album Sales 'Look' Higher! GOOD LOOK: With a brisk third day to match the activity of the first two,
Whitney Houston's Arista comeback, I Look to You, is now looking in the 290-310k range, with the wild card being the
Labor Day weekend. Could sales go even higher? [From Hits Daily Double] If you haven't bought Whitney Houston's new
album yet,
here's your chance!
Music Video Release Dates? According to blog ThatGrapeJuice.net, Whitney Houston's music video for "I Look To You"
is to be released on September 10th, while the music video for "Million Dollar Bill" will be released on September 16th. This

Whitney Projected At #1! According to both Billboard
Magazine and Hits Daily Double, Whitney Houston's new album "I Look To You" is projected to debut at #1 next week! Congratulations
Whitney! If you haven't already purchased the album, you can help make sure it goes to #1 by buying it now!
Billboard reports that "I Look To You" is "expected to sell upward of 200,000 copies," while Hits projects that the album "will debut
at #1, with a robust sales figure of 250-275k." Hits based its projection on two-day sales reports, where retail reporters
said Whitney's second day of sales was just as busy the first day of sales!
'GMA' Performance Videos and Photos: If "Good Morning America" does not air on television where you live, you can watch Whitney's
performance and view pictures online, courtesy of the show's Web site! Whitney dedicated "I Look To You" to her mother in an
emotional tribute.
Whitney On 'Oprah' Show: Oprah.com has updated its page for Whitney Houston with a new photo
of Whitney and Oprah, and describes the show as "a candid, revealing, no-holds-barred interview. In a world exclusive, Whitney opens
up for the first time in seven years — drugs, rehab, marriage, divorce, her new album. No topic is off-limits." As previously
reported, Whitney's interview will air on September 14th and 15th. Check your local listings for airtimes. |

Whitney Gets Second Day on Oprah! Whitney Houston was so good on Monday's taping of Oprah that
she's doing a second one tomorrow. This means that Whitney will get not only the Oprah premiere on Sept. 14, but
a full second hour on Sept. 15 to finish up. What this also means is that Houston's "I Look to You" album should
skyrocket in sales. The CD, which was released yesterday, looks like it's tracking toward a 300,000 copy debut. Frankly,
it's surprising everyone, even the people at Arista Records. Reports are that "I Look to You" is exceeding expectations
and is No. 1 in most foreign markets after making its worldwide debut on Monday. Houston's success can be attributed to
a lot of things, but mostly the idea that she's overcome her difficulties and survived. Everyone loves a survival story,
and Whitney is certainly one of the most rooted-for celebrities ever. On "Oprah," apparently Houston talks frankly with
Winfrey about her drug addiction, her life with Bobby Brown, and just about everything else people are curious about.
If this proves true, and Whitney really comes clean, the catharsis should re-establish her. The worst thing Houston ever
did was her Diane Sawyer interview in 2002 - her infamous "I can afford better drugs than crack" speech. For Houston to
open up, be honest, and take responsibility for that whole mess, well, then, she's back. Also on "Oprah," set-siders
(I love that expression) say Houston's gut-wrenching performance of the Diane Warren song "I Didn't Know My Own Strength"
should ensure an outpouring of emotion- and a guaranteed hit single. [From Showbiz411]

Whitney on the Cover of Ebony! Whitney Houston graces the October 2009 cover of Ebony Magazine, on newsstands September 8th!
"Entertainment Tonight" published the following excerpts from the magazine:
Whitney Houston returns to the music scene after a six-year, self-imposed hiatus with the release of her comeback CD, I Look to
You. Now ET has a sneak peek at the revealing interview the multi-Grammy Award winner gives to Ebony.
"I shed a lot of stuff, a lot of unnecessary weight in the last three or four years. I left a lot of old luggage behind, and
when I did, the blessings just started pouring on me, and the light in my spirit started to lift again," she tells the magazine.
"I'm really humbled, and I thank God that people love me, but I [really] thank God that God loves me. I thank Him for chastening
my heart, for never letting go. What I did sometimes ... I went off and did my thing, but He never let me go."
As for her decision to stay out of the public eye for the last six years, she says, "I was just ready to lay back and raise my
daughter and just watch her grow and nurture her. And my mother's getting older. I wanted to spend more time with my mom
[because during] most of my 20s and 30s, [I] was dealing with making records and traveling the world and being this thing -- icon,
you know -- whatever this has turned into."
Whitney says the time away has been good for her and 16-year-old Bobbi Kristina, her daughter with Bobby Brown.
"She and I are not only mother and daughter, but we're good friends. I want her to trust me, to be able to trust in me, to know
that I'm not going nowhere. If she knows that I'm there for her, she can depend on me. I'm the dependable one; she can depend on
her mommy."
The October issue of Ebony featuring Whitney Houston will be on newsstands on Sept. 8. (Thanks Johnno)
Whitney Houston Breaks 7-Year Curse: Whitney Houston's first new album in seven years hits stores today. And get
this: "I Look to You" is already number 1 on Amazon.com in CD sales, and number 8 in downloads. For Whitney, a seven-year
curse is over. Her last album, "Just Whitney," was a spectacular failure back in 2002. But Houston is a beautiful case of
rehabilitation and people caring, gone right. Last week she filmed not one but two videos in the same day — the title track,
"I Look to You," and her Alicia Keys-penned hit, "Million Dollar Bill." Those are great, but Whitney has a secret hit on the
new album. It's a dance version of Leon Russell's "A Song for You." I predict that when Larry Jackson of Arista/J Records gets
the extended dance mixes out of this track, it could be a smash unlike anything Houston has had before. The track is on a par
with Donna Summer’s "Last Dance," and made for success. So congrats to Larry, and mostly, to Clive Davis. If Whitney looks to
anyone, it’s to him. It was clearly Clive's determination that he resurrect Whitney the artist, but also the human being. The
complete story hasn't yet been told how Davis got a fragile Houston into rehab and set her on the road to recovery. It’s a rare
story of humanity in a business that is usually unforgiving. [From Showbiz411]
'GMA' Reminder: Whitney will be kicking off the "Good Morning America" Fall Concert Series with a live performance at
Rumsey Playfield in New York City's Central Park tomorrow, September 1st! If you want to attend, the gates at the playfield will open at
11 a.m. EDT. The event will be taped to air on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, September 2nd on ABC Television in the
United States.
Walmart vs. Whitney? As you may know, technical problems at Walmart.com were interfering with pre-orders of
Whitney Houston's new album at Walmart's online store. But while Whitney's album was being impacted by this, Walmart's
exclusive Miley Cyrus CD didn't have the same problem, oddly enough. Walmart has since made improvements at its online
store, but some Whitney fans are now reporting problems finding "I Look To You" at their local Walmart stores. This may
not be happening at every Walmart store, but it has happened enough for it to be noticeable in the fan community.
Therefore, I am asking that we all continue to apply pressure to Walmart to make sure that Whitney's
CD doesn't experience further problems. In order to do that, please read details here. Thank you!

Whitney-Fan.com on the Radio: I gave a radio
interview with U.K. entertainment radio host Cristo Foufas today on LBC 97.3FM. We talked about Whitney Houston's new
single "Million Dollar Bill" and they played snippets of the song. If you missed the show, a podcast is available here,
but I will warn you -- they spent a large portion of the program discussing "X Factor" and then talking about Whitney,
so there is a lot of filler. I am glad that I participated because Cristo's co-host was particularly unfair and biased
against Whitney. I was able to shoot down some of her remarks, as well as discuss highlights of the new album and my
experience at the New York album listening event last month. Thank you to everyone who called and e-mailed the show to
support Whitney along with me! -Lisa |

Billboard Reviews 'I Look To You' Single:
Whitney Houston
I Look To You (4:21)
Producers: Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Emanuel Kiriakou, Harvey Mason Jr.
Writer: R. Kelly
Publishers: R. Kelly Publishing/Universal Music-Z Songs (BMI)
Arista/RMG
On the lead single from her first album in seven years, Whitney Houston is both vulnerable and in control. The singer re-enters
the spotlight with a stoic ballad about rising again after a fall from grace, with all the literal resonance that brings. "As I
lay me down/Heaven hear me now," Houston sings, punctuating each syllable with strong-willed aplomb. "After all that I've been
through/Who can I turn to?" The lyrics are penned by R. Kelly, himself no stranger to career downturns and revivals. And the
minimalist production, which features a lone, sullen piano and soft synths, exists purely to cushion Houston's moving vocal performance.
"I Look To You" stands firmly in the tradition of her most emotive hits ("Greatest Love Of All," "I Will Always Love You") and
signals the long-awaited return of a true diva. -MH

Whitney Shares Her Thoughts On Michael Jackson's Passing
"It is so hard to express in words what Michael Jackson meant to me. He was my friend. He was one of the reasons I got
into the music business. He inspired me. He taught me. He laughed with me. He paved the way for African American artists

solace in the incredible legacy of his music and art." [From WhitneyHouston.com] |
