Whitney Houston's third film, "The Preacher's Wife," was released in December 1996 and its soundtrack has sold about 5 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest-selling gospel album of all time. The soundtrack includes the hit singles "I Believe In You And Me" and "Step By Step," along with gospel songs "I Go To The Rock" and "Joy To The World," featuring the Georgia Mass Choir. The film, co-starring Denzel Washington and directed by Penny Marshall, grossed about $50 million at the U.S. box office, and is one of the very few Christmas movies ever made starring an all-Black cast.
