These are different days...I listened to the duet about a zillion times already. I LOVE THE SONG. Actually, the more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's very gospel and emotional. What I think of their voices at this point is that Whitney's voice is becoming drier with age. She doesn't sound anymore like in her first albums... That doesn't mean that it's bad, it's just different and when she's hitting high notes their actually lower and with less power/clarity then before. Mariah sounds like normal (which is great!) but she too used to hit those high notes easier and higher. But she sang her part great unlike some reports suggested. By the way, Whitney's voice is much drier then Mariah's. Whitney and Mariah do not sound anymore like in DWAHIA or Vanishing.... BUT THEY ARE STILL THE BEST!!! Unlike the Barbra/Celine duet which is sung in a very technical and very studied way, Whitney & Mariah sing from the heart and more subtly. They have SOUL when they sing. However, I thought that Whitney's goal in the song was somewhat to sound more powerful then Mariah. Although I am not against this :) I think that Babyface should've kept control over her voice. I am sure he just told them to 'sing' but Mariah in a way is holding back on her voice while trying not too hold back a lot so that we can hear her... However, the song is gospel in the last verse which makes it in my opinion ok for Whitney to go for it. Their different styles are evident in this song especially before the bridge. Whitney sings straight forward with the same tone where Mariah sings in a acrobatical way playing with the tones of her voices. Both techniques are different but they both sing with emotion and soul. The bridge is a Whitney moment where the last bridge is where Mariah shines... Again, the song is great!!! (I'm listening to it now!) I really hope this isn't the last collaboration between those 2. And I really want to hear this duet on Cd!!!
