a beautiful message

I must say that it was sort of surrealistic hearing the song finally after so much anticipation! Upon first hearing it, it must have been "anticlimactic" for me because of all the waiting to hear it...because at first I didn't really think it was all that great. It was after the second and third time listening to it that I finally listened more carefully to the words and began to grasp the message of what the song really means to convey. I am currently going through a period in my life where I need to have alot of faith in the possibility of good things happening and the words to this song are truly inspiring to me!
The performances of Whitney and Mariah were wonderful to hear. Whitney giving her expected gospel inflected nuances and Mariah sounding sweet but also soulful. The difference between their voices can be heard more distinctly during the first two verses. Towards the end though I have to admit there were times that I couldn't tell where Whitney's voice starts and Mariah's ends! I can't wait to hear the cd because apparently Mariah ends the song with a final "when you believe" but the dj cuts it off too soon on the radio. Overall I think Whitney and Mariah sound angelic, soulful, tender and moving together. I hope that both sides of fans will embrace the song and except it for what it is.....a song of inspiration and hope. What an appropriate message especially for the coming holiday season!
