The Preacher's Wife Soundtrack Reviews

UK Times Review

It is growing hard to remember when Whitney last put out an album in her own right. Like her two previous albums, "The Preacher's Wife" is the soundtrack to a movie of the same name, starring Whitney. While Houston has long presented herself as the principal heiress to the choral tradition of the Black American baptist church, she has steered clear of such music on her albums. Until now. The "pw" is dominated by a succession of vigourous gospel workouts. To hear Houston going at full throttle with the 35 piece Georgia Mass choir struggling to keep up is to realise, at last, what her phenomenal voice was made for.

"Regarding the exchange of singles:" Step By Step came out today (CD1) but only features the two album versions and a k-klass euro dance mix which is nice -- but not remarkable. Next week sees the release of CD2 -- with mixes by Soul Solution, Junior Vasquez AND Jermaine Dupri!!!
