The Preacher's Wife Soundtrack Reviews
A longtime Whitney fan, I was enthusiastic about seeing the Preacher's Wife
and getting the chance to slip the soundtrack into my CD player. Whitney Houston is
a talented artist, but somehow she has lost the lushness in her voice that was so
prominently displayed in every album of hers up to last year's EXHALE. Her style has
changed, although she has, and always will have, one of the best voices in the
business. On this soundtrack, I would have to rate "You Were Loved" as one of my
favorite tracks, followed by "I Believe in You and Me." They are classic Whitney
ballads, and Diane Warren (who, as you probably know, wrote Celine Dion's explosive
"Because You Loved Me") did a great job with "You Were Loved." I was disappointed
that there weren't more ballads that gave Whitney a chance to showcase her range and
vocal power, but those missing tracks were almost adequately replaced by an
abundance of energy and emotion channeled to the listener all the way through the
album.
