A resilient voice.

It's Not Right, But It's Okay:
Alright - has a good beat; I liked the chorus the best.
Heartbreak Hotel:
Alright.
My Love Is Your Love:
My fave! I LOVE the whole song, but the chorus is tattoed on my brain.
When You Believe:
Good - the lyrics are intelligent, and both singers played off of eachother well. Whitney sounded much hoarser than Mariah, though.
If I Told You That:
Alright - has a good beat.
In My Business:
I skip this track.
I Learned From The Best:
My third favorite! She comes at you full force on the chorus, which sounds amazing.
Oh Yes:
I skip this track.
Get It Back:
I don't go to this track much.
Until You Come Back:
I really like the way it starts, because it sounds very jazzy; then it gets boring because when I thought she'd go for a high note, she stays at mid-level. With little variation, it ended up sounding flat.
I Bow Out:
Good - Babyface is like a country songwriter (everything is so depressing!).
You'll Never Stand Alone:
Alright.
I Was Made To Love Him:
My second favorite! I love it when she doesn't hold back - it sounds really funky.
Overall impressions on MLIYL:
I like the CD overall because Whitney sounds looser and her voice now has such a richness to it that it almost compensates for the minimum of high notes. I generally find her first 2 albums boring in comparison (I read that at least a couple of her old songs were offered to Olivia Newton John and Janet Jackson, if that indicates the difficulty level) to her work post-"I'm Your Baby Tonight." Although Whitney may have lost some fans due to her change in singing style, I think she has become a much more interesting singer to listen to.
