It's Not Right, But It's Okay:
I like the beat and the lyrics, but the album gets better as it goes on. Nice delivery of the mood Nippy. (C)
Heartbreak Hotel:
Excellent! Their voices blend perfectly, and Whitney's rich tone adds a whole new dimension to the feel of the song. (A-)
My Love Is Your Love:
She should release this as a single here in the Caribbean. The West Indians will love this! Nice groovy beat. Bobbi Kris sounds sooo cute! (B)
When You Believe:
Lovely song. I especially enjoy listening to how Whitney so lushly starts the song. She clearly demonstrates her STILL INTACT vocal skills in this song. Mariah's diction is awful however, and her tone gives the impression at times that she has difficulty breathing. She is technically very good though, exchanging her natural tone with falsetto very well. (A-)
If I Told You That:
Very good dance track. Should be a single, the third after ILFTB, and Heartbreak Hotel. (B+)
In My Business:
This song does not suit Nippy. It is nice in the chorus, but the verses are smothered in Missy's style.
(C-)
I Learned From The Best:
This should be the first single from the album for certain. One of her best songs ever. This will make her album sales soar! Mariah won't be able to top her sales after that, because she has no outstanding singles on her album. AT ALL. Whitney has at least six. (A+)
Oh Yes:
This is one song that had to grow on me. And it did. Like a vine. It has a gospel influence in the chorus. Very nice. (B)
Get It Back:
Nice song for the clubs. I will sing this one in the band back at home. (A-)
Until You Come Back:
What a voice!!! A soon-to-be airplay hit. It will definately appeal to those who grew up in the 1980's like myself. Very nice. B-side for ILFTB (A)
I Bow Out:
Definately a single. I will watch this one top the R&B charts. (A)
You'll Never Stand Alone:
Classic Whitney. Single. Are you watching carefully Mariah? (A+)
I Was Made To Love Him:
This girl can sing ANYTHING. This song is sooooooooo sweet. Lauryn. You go girl. The backup gives me shivers down my spine. B-side. (B)
Overall impressions on MLIYL:
Seven singles. Break that Janet Jackson record girl! You have seven top ten songs here. ILFTB, HH, IBO, YNSA, GIB, MLIYL, and WYB. Release them all as singles. Keep the album up there on the charts. Do top-notch videos, and Celine, Mariah, and all the others will have to take the back seat.
