Meeting the fans. What a treat!

Which Concert: Saturday, Nov. 14/98
Posted by Kieran on November 16, 1998:

I saw the Friday show, but stuck around Saturday to meet the fans for dinner. I'm glad I did. I met a really great bunch of people. It was the highlight of the night for me, as well as a couple of the other people who were there who I have since spoken with.

We all must give it up to Rachel. She had a really bad day leading up to the concert between missing her flight, having her baggage lost, etc. etc. She showed up for dinner looking fabulous and was still all smiles! Alan presented her with a nice trophy for all her hard work, and we spent the evening chatting and sharing Whitney stories, etc.

It was great meeting Sharon, Lopez, Kevin, Daniel, Steve, etc. I wish I could remeber everyone's names! Anyway, you guys were great. I look forward to the next opportunity to meet you and some of the other fans.

The show was great. WHitney had so much energy, and she really encouraged everyone to party and have a good time. She seemed to be in better shape on Saturday than she was on Friday, and instead of pushing too hard to hit really high notes, she had one of her backup singers help her out.

ONly two new songs on Saturday night: ILFTB and MLIYL. Both were done well. The fans are going to love these songs.

After the show, I met up with the other fans. We got our picture taken, and then I had to take off. But the night wasn't over for me yet...

As I walked to the garage, I passed by the arena again. I ran into two other DC fans and they said people were coming out that way. 2 seconds later, I met Gary Houston. He was talking with some friends, so I just said hi and left him alone. (He, BTW, did a great job on the songs he sang both nights, and his version of Endless Love with Whitney was beautiful.) Then out came two of the back up singers. One stayed and talked with us for a good 20 minutes (I can't remember her name right now, but she was very nice). She siad she has a lot of fun singing with Whitney and the only real news she could share was that they will probably do at least two new songs when Whitney films Rosie's show this week for airing later. Finally, Cissy came out andn spoke to us for just a few seconds, but allowed us to get our picture taken with her. She was very nice.

It was long drive home, but a great weekend. Again, it was really great to meet my fellow Whitney fanatics! Hope we can do it again soon.
