Whitney in Germany!

Posted by Nadine S. on October 31, 1999:

Concert date: 10/30/99 Oberhausen, Germany

Review of the show:
Yesterday, Oct. 30th, was my second Whitney Houston concert, it was in the Arena Oberhausen. I thought Cologne was the best concert she could

ever give but now I know that one is better than the other. I loved Oberhausen even more than Cologne althought her voice was not 100%.

This time I got a place in the 2nd row behind a boy called Phillipe, some of the girls next to me said he's a singer but I didn't know him ;-) Anyway, Amanda Marshall was support act again and I think she was okay, I like her music and her voice is good too but I don't like her show and as I told you last time I don't like her character either. But now to Whitney!

She entered the stage at about 9:30PM I think so she was late again. She was wearing black pants and a black jacket, under the jacket she was

wearing the black top form the Oprah Show. Her jacket and pants were with embroidery and they twinkled in the light, it looked so beautiful!

She sang Get it back, Heartbreak Hotel, If I told you that, Saving All My Love For You (just a few lines), Until You Come Back, I Learned From The Best, Step By Step, then she went off to change her clothes. While Whitney was off her brother Gary sang, If I Could Change The World, and

then the background singers sang Queen of the night and I'm Your Baby Tonight.

Whitney came back with My love is your love in that beautiful handpainted dress she wore on the Oprah Show, she also wore the yellow fur jacket from Cologne and the yellow shoes. After MLIYL she sang I Wanna Dance With Somebody and How Will I Know. Then came two songs of Dionne Warwick but I don't know their names. After that she sang I Love The Lord and I Go To The Rock. Then she told us that her husband Bobby went home to the USA so he wasn't there. She said she misses him very

much and wanted to dedicate him a song, I Believe In You And Me. Then she sang Why Does It Hurt So Bad, It Hurts Like Hell and I Will Always Love You, then she went off...

She came back with leopard pants and the blue fur jacket from Cologne, with It's Not Right But It's Okay she finally left the stage. A very sad

moment!

So far so good, I also want to tell you about some special moments on stage but I don't remember the order so I'll list them up here:

Whitney told us she is a bit sick, she has caught "that virus going around here." She told us she can't sing so well but she wants us to

have a good time. You could really hear that she was ill and that her voice was not 100% but that made it even better. I mean she just could

have stayed in bed but she came and sang, although she knew her voice was not as good as it should be.

Whitney said that her tour manager had his birthday. She told us that they are together since day one and they are still a good team, so she wants to thank him for everything. Whitney told him to enter the stage but he didn't come. "He's so shy, oh come on Tony!" she said and

immediately the audiance started screaming, "Tony, Tony, Tony..." Whitney liked the idea and joined us and then he came, he sat down on the piano stool and looked very embarassed. Whitney said to him that she loves him

very much, she wishes him all the best and she wants to thank him for the past 15 years. When she said that her eyes became red and she got a

weepy voice, that was so cute. It really came from the heart. Well, she sang Happy Birthday for him and as she made a short pause during the

song some fans sang on. Whitney looked at them and said "Shut up, that's MY song for Tony!" At the end she hugged him and both left the stage with tears in their eyes.

During a song the girl next to me collapsed and she had to be taken out by the Red Cross. Exactly as Whitney stood at the micro on the front of

the stage they took the girl out of the crowd. You could really see that Whitney was shocked but she kept on singing. She looked so scared.

Yeah and finally Whitney disappointed me again! A friend of mine who couldn't go to the concert gave me a litte baby lion for Whitney I should throw on the stage. I did it during INRBIO because I thought at the end she could take it with her from the stage so it won't disturb her during her performance. Well, as I threw it the bodyguard went crazy as if I wanted to throw a bomb or so! He jumped and wanted to catch the

little innocent animal but he failed, it landed very close to Whitney. She saw it and threw it away to her crew, she didn't even show a small

reaction! I don't know where it is now but I guess in the closest trash can! I'm sorry for your lion, Christine, but I did my best!

All in all Whitney is the most amazing woman I've ever seen, she's a singer, an actress, a dancer, a mother, a wife and so much more and she's perfect at each. So Whitney, why can't you just be a little bit nicer to your fans???
