Review of the show:
-Review especially written for “Whitney Worship Webpage”-

10-13-1999, Finally it was going to happen, I was going to a Whitney-concert for the first time. In 1998 I had tickets for her concert, but it was cancelled, for the first concert this year I was late. I found out that there was a concert when it was already sold out. But hey, I was on holiday at that time. But, fortunately they planned an extra concert, and yes (!!!), I did get tickets for that one.

So me and my friend Marianne went and we were early, at 7 o’clock, it started at 8. So, first we could go to the toilet and watch the little shops with Whitney-stuff. All nice, but it’s so expensive.

At exactly 8 o’clock, Amanda Marshall started her performance and it rocked!! It was truly amazing. I remember thinking “well, if Whitney’s got a bad day, at least we’ve had a good support act”. Amanda’s performance lasted for about 40 minutes and at 9, Whitney started her fantastic show. Starting with GIB I got in the swing right away. We (Marianne and I) couldn’t stay in our seats and we went in the aisle and started dancing, like a couple of other girls ‘n’ boys. But then a security man came to us and told us we had to sit down, he said “this is a sittingconcert”. We thought “yeah, right” and soon after he was gone we stood up and started dancing again. And so we stood and we danced all evening. At the beginning of GIB the sound was a bit poor, but soon it got better. After GIB she sang HH, which was great, I really liked this one. Next was IITYT, that is such a strong song and so was it live, very well sung! SAMLFY/UYCB, I loved the way she went from SAMLFY to UYCB, it sounded great. Then there was ILFTB, which is my favorite from MLIYL and I was afraid I would cry during this song, but fortunately I didn’t, I would have missed a lot. But I did get tears in my eyes. It was soooooo beautiful!!! After this emotional song, Miss Whitney sang a great version of SBS, the crowd went wild and ofcourse so did I, well I already were.

Then La Houston changed her outfit, into a WYB/INRBIO-like dress, quite nice I would say. During this change the superb band played Whitney songs such as QOTN and IYBT, very entertaining. When Whitney got back the crowd went wild again, and MLIYL started, this song’s Marianne’s favorite and I really love it too. Next was a mix again, this time a dance-mix with IWDWS(WLM) and HWIK, smashing!! After that she started with some religious tunes. A bit of JLM, the beautiful ILTL and the smashing IGTTR with a long instrumental part in which La Whitney introduced the band, I always like that. The solo’s during that introduction were great too. I myself am not religious, but if there’d be this kind of music in church, here in the Netherlands, I’d go a lot. I love the TPW-soundtrack! After getting religious (well, almost) it was time for a movie-medley, which was great, including IBIYAM, WDIHSB (my fave of WTE) and the Aretha-song ‘It hurts like hell’. She finished her performance with IWALY, again tears in my eyes. Beautiful!!! And the audience sang with her, and amazingly it sounded great!! Well, that wasn’t really the end, after a quick change she sang a great party-version of INRBIO, loved it!!!

Bobby also got on stage a couple of times and they were really nice together. The only sad thing was the Ahoy’ itself, it’s got a very poor acoustics and sometimes there were nasty sounds because of that. But that didn’t make Whitney’s performance less better. It really was great!!

Afterwards I bought a tourbook, in which there are beautiful photos and information (most of it I already knew, but hey!).

A day later, I sat on my bike on my way to school and I couldn’t get that smile of my face, I was feeling so happy, just like when I’m in love!! I hadn’t felt so happy in a long time. Maybe even in my whole life. Marvellous, isn’t it?

It was great, really a dream come true! Tnx Whitney!
