Whitney - "Simply the best"

Posted by Eddy - Belgium on September 26, 1999:

Concert date: 9/25/99 Antwerp, Belgium

Review of the show:
Whitney performed for a very enthousiastic and grateful crowd from 21:35 till 23:15.

I had a very good view on the stage (third row) and Whitney in particular. Whitney was wearing her new outfits.

She was in very good spirit, looked gorgeous, and sang a lot of different type of songs :

  • Until you come back
  • Heartbreak hotel
  • Saving all my love for you (fantastic !)
  • I learned from the best (outstanding version)
  • Step by step
  • My love is your love (great !, with a lot of participation from the audience)
  • Medley :
    • I wanna dance with somebody
    • How will I know (the crowd went wild)
  • Gospel-medley (Lord/The rock)

  • Movie-medley
    • I believe in you and me
    • I will always love you
  • It's not right but it's OK

The set listing is possible not 100% chronologically correct. However she sang all the mentioned songs.

Her voice never let her down. Whitney has got a lot of energy to spare. Whitney thanked the audience for the lovely reception and all the great support.

At the beginning of the show, she wondered in with city she was. She said "when you're travelling a lot like me it's difficult to know where you exactly are".

Whitney introduced her husband by saying: "Mr. Bobby Brown is in the house, I love you". Bobby showed a lot of interest in the show of his lady.

My favourite song of the concert was: "Step by step". The choreography was excellent.

Whitney sang undoubtedly one of the best versions of "I will always love you" I've ever heard, a touching "I believe in you and me" and a terrific "It's not right but it's ok" as encore. There were rightly so several standing ovations.

The security was very tight. Nobody was allowed to come close to the stage. However one member of the Platinum-club managed to offer flowers to Whitney, which she appreciated very much.

Thank you Whitney for unforgettable evening. See you 11/02/99 Antwerp, Belgium!
