Why Does It Hurt So Bad

Posted by Todd on August 02, 1999:

Concert date: 8/01/99 San Francisco, CA

Review of the show:
My wife and I took our 2 little girls to Concord to see Whitney. We have never seen her in concert before and we were so excited. My little girls were playing her new CD over and over and over again because "we just want to all the words so we can sing and dance with her, daddy." It was just too cute for words. We were all really excited, especially my babies. They had such priceless smiles on their faces.

Contrast that to the tears that ran nonstop on our way home. For a parent, to see your kids like that is beyond heartbreaking. They are just little kids....they don't understand things like this. How do you explain it to them? What do I tell them to make them stop hurting, Ms. Houston? Maybe you should give them a call and explain it to them. Maybe you should refund our parking fees and the money for our 4 t-shirts and 2 tour books and our gas money. But there is no way you can pay for the cost of my little girls tears.

I can see by other people's notes that we are not the only unhappy ones. Maybe all of us should e-mail her at Nippy Inc. or at the Platinum Club. Does anyone have the e-mail address for them? Can someone please post them? I notice that we are asked to e-mail magazines or radio stations when we are upset at something that they have said or written about Whitney. But now Whitney, the very person that we support and love, has upset us and I feel that she should know. She should know how we all feel about this. This diva behavior is just despicable. It makes me long for the days of sweet, lovely, innocent Whitney of the "Saving All My Love For You" days when she was so happy to win awards and so humbled by her success. She just seems too jaded now, which is sad to see. We should all e-mail Arista, Nippy Inc, and the Platinum Club to let them know how we feel. Too bad that I can't enclose my daughters tears in my note.

Todd, I feel your pain.
