Lucky to Be There

Posted by DAndrews on April 14, 1999:

IWALY:
I was lucky enough to be at The Beacon theater last night, and Whitney took charge. I was nervous about her getting through IWALY, but she was fabulous-The best she ever sounded live on this song. She took her time (very Diva-like) and the audience ate it up!

It's Not right but It's OK:
Could have done without the dancers, but at least it gets this song out there as the new single and hopefully gives this Aritsa-neglected CD some much deserved attention and sales.

Ain't No Way:
A classic. Mary and Whitney sounded great together. Reminded me a bit of Whitney and CeCe at THe VH-1 honors concert and "Bridge Over Troubled Waters."

My Love Is Your Love:
Again, glad to see Whitney looking and sounding great. Bobbi Kris was a sweet addition. Love the song. Love the diva.

I'm Every Woman:
Whitney looked like she was having so much fun. She sounded wonderful and Chaka was a nice, if overbearing touch.

Overall impressions on 'Divas Live' Show:
Overall, a bit of a letdown. Whitney and Tina were far and away the best. In my opinion, Whitney is back in top form and it looks like the summer concerts will be great. She seems to have found an inner peace which translates into the sound of her voice and her look. Wake up Arista, and do something!

Tina was hot. This woman will be 60 this year. Amazing.

Cher was exciting to see, but what a letdown that she lip-syched "Believe." Everyone in the audience knew she wasn't singing live and everyone was shocked and appalled. This is "Divas LIVE" isn't it?

Message to Brandy: Find your own mannerisms and voice techniques and stop steling from Whitney-ya don't even come close. Learn how to get an audience excited, not put them to sleep. Oh, and next time, how about some underwear.

Elton and LeAnn: Wake me up when you're done.

Faith Hill: Sweet, cute , but no Diva.

Except for Tina, the other Divas should "learn from the best" and thank Whitney for saving the show at the end!
