Rachel,
Hi, Well, I don't know what you thought of the HBO special, but you got
to see the kind of performance I saw here in Phoenix. The girl just
didn't sing well at all. And apparently I'm not the only one to think so.
I read a few of the fans words on that page you listed. Many were very
dissappointed. The one fan finally admitted he's tired of defending
Whitney's poor performances, and just said she just can't hardly sing
anymore. I don't know if that's true or not, but the air she put on is of
what she is today. Way to big for her britches. Her attitude and her
money have ruined her as far as I'm concerned. As far as her roots are
concerned she's from Beverly Hills. And just how many colds can one
person possibly have? There are those who say well she had a cold. Why
is this the cry every time she doesn't perform well? This woman had no
cold. Want to know something else. If I didn't know any better, I'd
ALMOST say this girl was on some kind of drug. She neither looked nor
acted like the Whitney I know. She seemed to constanly have a mesmerized
look about her. I don't know, but this seems to be classic Whitney
anymore, and her fans are tiring of her rapidly as far as what I could
read.
It's difficult for some people to see this, especialy young people
who adore her. My whimsical crush on her dissapeared when I seen her in
the bodyguard. She was SOOOO beautiful in that movie, but her verbage
kind of shocked me back into the real word, and I've seen her in a
different light ever since. She no long sits on that unreachable pedastal
anymore. Notice something however when you read the fans reviews that
thought she was so wonderful. How can ANYONE think she performed well??
Well just read the reviews, you'd think she gave the performance of her
career by reading some of the reviews fans left. These are a poor
dilusioned set of people. The ones that halfway realize this, mentioned
that fact the she had a cold, or someother really silly thing, but notice
they are defending Whitney. These are the hardcore, in love with Whitney
fans. The same kind I was but when I was the huge fanatical fan, she
sang.... and sang very well, which is why she's where she is today. But
now she's living on that great entrance she made into music back in 1985.
In my honost opinion, No other woman has ever hit the music world like
Whitney did. She stormed to fame on the strengh of her voice, her goddess
like beauty, and down to earth personality. She sang songs like no one
else could and became stronger personaly for it, But like so many before
her, has fallen to the lusts of fame and fortune, and now carries an air
of superiority, and values that do not belie her roots. she is a woman of
the world, and tired of her profession.
Her performances today are that
of someone who seems bored, and has no real desire to perform for those
who love her so much. I now see arrogance in her performances, not the
real emotion she couldn't help but sing into her songs in her early days.
Now putting true emotion into her music is a troublesome, tiresome job,
something she has to work at doing. No one has the soul that Aretha
does, and R&B would never be the same without the likes of Gladyis and
Natalie, but no one, I mean no one, has ever come close to having the
voice that Whitney has. It's just too bad she doesnt use it anymore.
I hope I haven't offended you personaly Rachel, I know how much you love
her. And worse, It's hard for me to believe what I'm saying about her.
But I have to be honost, even though it hurts to say it. And after
reading all those other reviews, I now know that I don't stand alone with
this opinion. it isn't just me. There are others who see this.
