Whitney in Tokyo, Japan
submitted by: Jay Hill
Let me tell you briefly what I experienced at the Tokyo Dome on May 14,
1997.
- A. The concert was great... one of the best that I have ever been to..
- B. Whitney's voice was FANTASTIC! It was so beautiful, and it did not
crack, not even once. She hit every note with full force, and continued
with that the entire concert.
- C. She was breathtaking... Beautiful... (Of, course.)
- D. I was greeted by my contact with Tokyo Fan ASYLUM, and she told me
that she has a "SUPRISE" for me, but wanted her boss to tell me... What
was this? I had no idea.
-
Tim, her boss came up to me, and said that Whitney understood that I came
from all the way from San Diego, and after the concert she wanted to
"Thank" me for coming to Japan... The concert ended, before the last
encore, they gave us our backstage passes, and took us through the crowd
and behind the stage, of course, Whitney was at that point performing Step
by Step... After she finished, we sat in the Hospitality lounge, there we
met the band, and some of the dancers. Approx 30min, they indicated that
Whitney was ready for us, we went up to the second floor and went into
this small room, there were 12 of us, the others were contest winners from
contests held by records companies, and local TV.
-
We were all very nervous, and of course, Whitney had all the air turned
off, We heard her voice, and the the fan club president said she's here...
she came into the small room, she was very, very beautiful, she was
holding Bobby Kristina, and I was second in line to meet, and speak to
her. She greeted me, and said "You're from San Diego", I said "yes", and
she said "Thanks for being such a loyal supporter, and she smiled, and
said have a safe trip home". She then moved on to the next person, in the
meantime Bobby Brown came in to meet us... He really was a very nice
man... Very nice.
-
I told him that I enjoyed his performance, and he said thanks. They then
took us back downstairs, behind Whitney, and we left thereafter... WHAT A
THRILL.
I was told that Whitney partied at the Tokyo Hard Rock Cafe the night
before.. That night was the only night that we did not go to the Hard
Rock.
I have loads of information to tell you when I get back home. I
purchased 3cd's that have some different tracks on them. On track was
never released, and only available on that Japanese import. We were given
a Japanese Preacher's wife poster... Not available in the states...
-
Anyway, we are heading back tomorrow.. I will email you when I get home..
I did also talk to a record producer, and although he couldn't say much,
he did tell us a little about the upcoming album...
Talk to you soon...
