Whitney in Hawaii (part II)

submitted by: Terry Hubbard

Hi Rachel,
I looked you up on the net to pass along a very serious concern. I was just watching the local Honolulu news and saw a story that may interest you and other Whitney Houston fans. I wish it were happier news.

A Fox news station reported that a limousine was seen today 6/2 by local residents at Kahala Mall. Bobby Brown was seen getting out at 11:00 this morning (with an open beer in his hand). Whitney then got out and an argument insued and Mr. Brown was seen striking her with his free hand. He forced her back into the limousine and they left.

(I heard this at work-through our hotel security dept.)There was also an incident right after the Thursday night concert at the Kahala Madarin Hotel. Hawaii police were called to the hotel on a domesic disturbance. When they arrived they tried to seach the floor that Whitney and Bobby were staying on but were not allowed to enter by the security guards for the couple. No report was filed.

I am not passing this information along to promote gossip about the couple.

Although not an avid fan, I have enjoyed Witney Houston's music and films. I was lucky enough to attend her concert last Thursday but unfortunately did not come away feeling entertained but very sad and perhaps less of a fan.

It all went bad after her opening song "I'm Every Woman" On her second song she could not reach the note and I could see her grab something off the table (a cough drop or something) She was visibly struggling through many of her songs and could not reach many notes in her upper register. I excused it to a cold or a bad flu, but in the light of the reports of domestic trouble wonder if it was a cold or flu at all? Just listening to her sing "I Will Always Love You" at the end of the concert was a gruling experience. She struggled through the song and at the end, she sings the lyric "I will always, always, love.... YOU-she lost it at the finale and sounded aweful -I'm sad to say. Several times I could see her go talk to the stage manager-off stage, while the song was still going on. You get the picture.

I have all of her albums and think she has a very special voice. It will be some time before I can listen to her sing and enjoy it again. And if she is truly a battered wife I hope she can find her way out. No one-NO ONE can excuse that kind of abuse. Perhaps you could pass along this information and maybe someone close to her can help -before it is too late.

Thanks for listening to a concerned voice,

Terry artcom@pixi.com Honolulu
