AWESOME!!!!!!!!Concert date: 30/6/00 Atlantic City
Review of the show: We got on line at 8:30 for the 10pm show. The woman next to us was in the restaurant with Cissy and the family. She was also able to hear the sound check around 7pm. The stage is a pretty large one, almost the size of the Paramount at MSG. The backdrop was a kaleidoscope of colrs in hues of red, oranges, purple, blue and green and very pretty. She kicked it off with "get it back" ..Quest has the full song listing. If I told you that...was really kicking..Whitney was obviously very relaxed and enjoying herself. She did "Until you come back" and at the end she said Thursday referring to Bobby's release I guess. She was extremely friendly with the crowd and was answering questions here and there when people yelled out. When she did SAMLFY she really worked the notes and was studio perfect. BTW she was wearing a silver metallic gown, sleeveless and very complementing. She was on for 90 minutes with one quick change, For IWALY they repalced the sax solo with I think a guitar and it was really working. With almost every song Whitney had the audience pumped. I was really pleasantly surprised. Because of the setting, and the front seats all being comp, I didnt think the audience was gonna be so wild. At one point during MLIYL she eveeryine had their fists pumping in the air like at the Gay Pride performance. Nothing was contrived, everything was working perfectly. Quest mentioned her acknowledging Antonio Reid, but it was obvious in her voice and a few comments in the middle of her dedication to Reid that she was missing Clive. She mentioned that Reid had a lot of work ahead of him. Here are my overall comments: (1) Whitney looked gorgeous, relaxed, sexy (2) She move gracefully, strutted, knelt down to sign autographs, shook hands, smiled, waved, jammed, and totally rocked the place. (3) Her voice has never been so ON in all of the times I have seen her (about 14 times now over the past 15 years). PSS: I don't know if this is fair, bnut I wondered if this natural exuberance and renewed vigor had anything to do with Bobby not being there. I don't know, but I do feel that Whitney gives more when he is not there. She seems less restrained and more relaxed and focused. This was without a doubt the best I have seen her live. Sometimes you get goosebumps when you listen to Whitney live, last night it was happeneng in almost every song. In case you were wondering, I like the concert.
