Disappointing.......Concert date: 03/7/00 Atlantic City
Review of the show: This time, however, not so. When I picked up my tickets at the window I saw that they were general admission, maitre d seating. This was about 1900. I went back to the window to ask about this, and was told that the seats would be down toward the front, just show them the green PC club postcard and we would be taken care of appropriately. And also that it wasn't necessary for us to get in line immediately. In other words, some preferential treatment, which I would expect being a PC Club member. So much for that. Anyway, we went and got something quick to eat and got back in line around 1945, as they were starting to let people inside. We were led to our table, less than halfway down, off to the left. From Lisa's review, I think we were near to where she was on Sat. We didn't even have a good look at WH. Unhappy with this, I approached someone who appeared to be a supervisor, and asked him exactly how the seats are assigned. He explained to me that a good number of the better seats are reserved for the casino "hign-rollers", people who make money for Caesars, Caesars/Bally's executives/friends/family, etc, and some for WH's people. He also told me that WH had not been selling well for these 3 shows, which meant that some people were given tickets to the show, given the good seats, in an effort to entice them into gambling more, etc, stay longer at Caesars, to allow Caesars to make more money. So who gets screwed? -- WH's real fans. You could just tell during WH's performance that the real fans were in the back half of the theatre. Anyway, I couldn't get any better seats. We were really down by now. We also could have come in at 2045 and gotten pretty much the same seats. But we tried to get ourselves back in a good mood by reminding ourselves that it was Whitney. Maybe if her performance had been one of her better ones it would have been ok. What really bugged us was that people were being moved around, to accomodate the "important" folks, in the middle of the show, not during WH, but during that awful comedian's performance and right up until WH came out. Two perople at our table were moved down closer just as WH started (lucky them). This one guy that was moved to our table actually MADE a call on his cell phone during WH's performance. What a fan! Considering the venue, the money spent (we had decided to stay over a night, rather than drive back to NYC that same night), it was disappointing. I was still miffed the next day, and still
am. Never again will I spend that kind of money to see WH in a venue of
this type, NEVER. The PC Club certainly did a dis-service to all of WH's
fans. Maybe if all of us that were dis-satisfied with the seating notified
the PC Club and Nippy, Inc. something could be done to see that this
doesn't happen again, maybe, maybe not. But I still love Whitney.
