Whitney Houston's "The Preacher's Wife" was released in December 1996, co-starring Denzel Washington and directed by Penny Marshall. The film grossed about $50 million at the U.S. box office, and is one of the very few Christmas movies ever made starring an all-Black cast. Whitney co-produced the movie soundtrack which featured the hits "I Believe In You And Me" and "Step By Step," as well as gospel tracks including "I Go To The Rock" and "Joy To The World." The soundtrack has sold about 5 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling gospel album of all time.
