Nasty rumors and critics seem to follow Whitney Houston around but the soul diva just keeps moving from strength to strength.
She has sold more than 40 million albums and that figure looks like skyrocketing further with the release of The Bodyguard, the soundtrack to the film in which she co-stars with Kevin Costner.
Her fans will no doubt rush to see the film to see her fall in love with Costner rather than to critique her acting skills.
But no matter what the critics say her album is sure to soar to the top of the charts.
The first single I Will Always Love You took no time at all to reach number one and their are five other Whitney tracks on the album.
The former Gospel singer, who scored with hits including How Will I Know and The Greatest Love of All, has had to put up with all manner of rumors and innuendo about her private life, but much of that ended recently when she married Bobby ""Humpin' Around" Brown. The union of two of the brightest lights in rock music was an unusual one but it seems to work.
But just because she has married the wild man of rock doesn't mean she has ended her virtuous days.
Although some steamy scenes between Whitney and Kevin Costner were originally intended for the movie, they never made it into the final version. The bedroom scenes are extremely restrained.
"They (the studios) own me but they aren't going to tell me to take my clothes off."
With a child on the way Whitney will be taking it easy in the coming months, but will be planning a smash return.
