Tribute was the best! I knew BET would bring it...Gary's part hit my heart the hardest..he couldn't have picked a better and more heart wrenching song to sing..gave the song a whole new meaning for sure.

Mariah's speech was so beautiful. The world got to see the human side of Mariah, she really did see Whitney as a friend & the pain she feels is very obvious. She really is going through it like the rest of us & I thank her for showing her love for our girl. Her speech kinda reminded me of the one Whitney did for Luther at the BET 25th

between that line & "all of your dreams are gone" "when you needed that friend, the lord was standing right behind" & that part about "he laid you down" Man Cissy really personalized the lyrics of that song & made it fit so well.

Yes her mother, her brother, and two artists she worked with. I was just wondering why they gave her those kinda songs. Honestly they weren't perfect. Brandy's perfomrances was. Monica was pitchy and she strained on some notes, her brother imo can't really sing, her mother(bless her heart) gave the most heartfelt performance but her intonation was off and she had some vocal issues(although she gets a pass). Aside from Brandy, Whit's tribute could've been much better.

There was so much going on that day and I forgot to DVR the show. I could kick myself. Finally a worthy tribute and I missed it. Aaarrgggghh!!!!

Y'all all said it already, but FINALLY a tribute worthy of Whitney. I didn't want to comment until I watched it. Where You Are has always been one of my favorites because of all the amazing harmonies in that song. But, like all of her songs, it now has profoundly deeper meaning especially with Gary singing it.

And Ms. Cissy Houston. She brought it. I was expecting the Aretha-esque version. But she did it slow, meaningfully, and with class. To have been in that audience and feel her emotion. "Sail on silver, girl..." opened the floodgates for me.

Brandy and Monica. Just so fitting for them to sing to her. Even if Brandy's voice is a bit too low for the songs, she brought out the funk. Monica reminded us of Whitney's elegance and poise and mastery of ballads. Brandy reminded us that Whitney also let us get down and get funky.

I doubt BET will be able to be topped by any other program. This was so perfect!
