I always knew that Whitney emulated her mother but I never ever truly knew how much alike they sounded... I never realized the mark Cissy left on her daughter... even Whitney's mannerisms and embellishments were like her Mommy's...

I thought it would be cool to post video of Cissy Houston that clearly show how magnificent her voice is...

Ya know, many people have said that Cissy's voice is one that grows on you. That may be the case, but I LOVE this womans voice!

In that video of Yesterday, the way she belts, she has so much soul and power, and look at her face, it's like she isn't trying either! It just flows out, like Whitney's did. This is a great video that shows the greatness of Miss Cissy's voice! So many spots in the video I want to point out like at .46 the way she sings "I'm not half the girl I used to be"--powerful, love it. And from 1:29 - 1:41 I hear so much Whitney there. And 2:29 - 2:55 effortless! But damn 2:55 and on, mmm! Awesome!

wasn't Yesterday one of Whitney's favorite songs? anyway, you can definitely see the resemblance..i love her power and the way she really feels what she sings, just like Whitney..

Wow, they have soooo many similar inflections in their voices. I first recognized them in "I know him so well"

I actually watched "Yesterday" the week before Whitney died, and imagined Whitney singing it. I always believed that Whitney would sound like Cissy when she's in her 60s/70s. I guess now I can only watch Cissy's old clips and imagine it was Whitney singing it....

I would ROCK so hard if Cissy performed one of Whitney's songs at one of the upcoming tributes to Whitney. I'd love to hear her tear up one of her daughters songs. And OMG.., it would be so emotional
