I will most defintely avoid the news because i'm taking this harder than her death. Now we have to hear all of this rehash of stuff, gotta hear Nancy Grace and especially Dr. Drew...

You are so right - I didn't think about that. I don't mind Dr. Drew because I believe he truly cares about celebrities with drug problems. But Nancy Grace...she's another story. She needs to not say anything but I know she will. Jane Velez-Mitchell has a history of alcohol use herself so she will probably not be too much on Whitney's case. There's also the possibility that they will all still be on the Trayvon case out of Florida tonight and will leave Whitney's story alone...but my guess is that all of them will spend at least 15 minutes of their show on it.

Also - I'm glad that heart disease and drowning played a role. At least it wasn't ALL drugs......I know that sounds weird but think about that for a second. At least the primary cause was drowning. I don't mean to sound crude - but she's gone anyway and at least all the nay-sayers can't just say "It was DRUGS!". Know what I mean?

Grief all over again. No judgement. Just grief. Ugh. I am not looking forward to the smug "I told you so's" from my friends.

Is there a way to se the real report? I mean how much can I trust the media nowadays? It is so much half truth/lies whatever in it, is the real report really and officially out?

USA TODAY made direct quotes w/o editorializing the coroner's statements. This is not national enquirer type journalism. Again--direct quotations.

But I'm doin a media blackout again. I refuse to listen/read/watch the sensationalized aftermath right now.

Thank you, I am so fed up with all this sensationalism, hate halftruth etc. . I hope some day people will be able to appreciate Whitney for her legacy and not only reduce her to the "D-word" only. Sometimes I think people react to addicts or even sporadic users like pawlows dogs with hate, not understanding "biting around" - It was an accident drowning, prob.via a heart attac unfortunately with drugs involved. She tried hard to get better, I am shure, but its difficult to get rid of an addiction. And especially in the USA where many often only know AA for that, and alternatives are hardly promoted (like SOS, Woman for Sobriety, Smart Recovery etc.) But I do not know what she and the family did to get better. This is just so sad :(

Here is the Official Coroner's Document

http://documents.lat...ns-cause-death/

People before some of you go jumping off of bridges please understand that DRUG INTAKE ON THE NIGHT OF HER DEATH DID NOT KILL WHITNEY HOUSTON. Heart Disease and Use of Drugs over years took her. Whitney was dying and did not know it. :crying:Yes she had prescription drugs and weed in her system the report says those drugs DID NOT KILL HER.

Please spread this news because the media is already spinning this in a horrible way.

Maybe I am still in shock, but I must be completely honest with you all and say that I am not surprised. A lot makes sense now. I found peace with the reality and I think knowing the truth gave me closure. There is soo much more I can say but out of respect I will be sensitive to everyones feelings. Loved Whitney in life and will always love her in death.

I like the family's statement. The first thing I felt as a fan was a sense of surprise since we thought she quit - but more so I felt closure.

CDJ it says on the front page: Drowning and effects of heart disease including cocaine

It's going to be hard for people to accept it....but she was using drugs and ended up dying. A tragedy turns into a worldwide example where people should clearly know now clearer than ever: DON'T DO DRUGS.

May she RIP.

 I'm so sad...I wish there was a way to hide this report from the world!! I wish there was a way to change all the news reports to re-arrange their word and put heart attack then all the other stuff or even take it out all together. In ever report I'm seeing it's drowning/drugs then heart disease. This sucks!

I just don't think there are any more pieces that my heart can break into. Like I said before this wouldn't change a thing... My Whitney is still gone. I love her more than words can say and my love is unconditional.

grrrrr

I had done certain substances in my life never chronically but I have done them...

Fact is she messed her heart up in the "chronic years"...I dont really do anything anymore but if I was in LA drinking knocking back XANEX I know having some cocaine would seem like the best idea I have ever had.

I believe she had stopped..I dont think she was at home doing it in the latter days. But she got herself to LA early she wanted to party and even maybe have the intent. Its like smokers that say they only smoke when they drink and will take any opportunity to have a drink so they can spark up.

She relapsed that week IMO..she got caught up in the partying. TRUST me if she was on coke everyday she would NOT manage two hours at the pool swimming any day.

Like people always say you can take drugs all your life an be fine and then on the 101 time you take them you can go.
She lost her battle. But in all honesty in my belief if you put most people in the world indise that industry they would end up the same. So much goes on that we just dont know about. MJ and Whitney were getting older and they couldnt cover it anymore. In another 10 - 20 years others will come out the woodwork and so on and so on.

Thank you for posting the coroner's report.

So it would appear that she had a heart attack and drowned. She had cocaine in her system, which had some effect, but I guess we won't know how much until the final report which should indicate quantities. Interesting to note that there was apparently no alcohol in her system. So much for all the news reports about her smelling of alcohol and being drunk and boozing the night before and the morning of. Also interesting that such a young person had heart disease, though cigarettes can be a huge contributing factor in heart disease.

I think the coroner knew all along she drowned, he was just waiting for toxicology so he could say what caused her to lose consciousness such that she would drown. That's why he kept trying to get them to back off the prescription drug thing.

All in all, it's sad to see that cocaine was in her system and she had not conquered her challenges as I had hoped and thought. Sad also that refrain in the media will be that cocaine caused her death, especially since it would appear that years of cigarette smoking which contribute to an often silent heart disease were the real culprits.

She was human, like the rest of us.

Did Whitney drown or die from heart disease? She didn't die from both.

Actually she did she had a heart attack, lost consciousness and drowned. So in a way she died from both. Had she not been in the tub she could have possibly survived the heart attack had she been found in time.

Does anyone know how long cocaine stays in your system? It doesn't mean she used that day or that night. She could have used back home in ATL and it was still in her system.
