Madonna's "tribute"
On Friday night Madonna, went to a place called Mister H in the Mondrian Soho hotel, where she showed up with a large group of her background dancers.

"Madonna was sitting down, watching as her dancers showed up their skills. When the DJ began to spin Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody,' Madonna perked up and started lip-synching the words."

She then noticed that her private area was cutting off a lot of the dance floor for everyone else… so she told her security crew to make the space smaller so everyone could dance!

Heartfelt, I'm sure.

Jenifer Lewis
i witnessed whitney record three songs during the filming of "the preachers wife" her voice was "the 8th wonder of the world" rest in peace babygirl.

Nick Cannon
"It was tough for many reasons," he told E!. "One, knowing how close my wife and Whitney were, and I was in the hospital during the time, and that's where we got the news. I was kinda in a life-threatening situation and then to see that, it was kind of bizarre and sad at the same time, but you know, it's part of life and it makes you step back and reflect and appreciate every day for what it is." Cannon is referring to his brief hospitalization last week, that we discovered was due to blood clots in his lung and an enlarged right ventricle of his heart. Since then, Nick has resigned his post on air as 92.3 NOW FM's morning drive-time show host.

Stephanie Mills
"Whitney was the greatest singer that ever lived! Everything that came out of her mouth was greatness. There will never be another Whitney"

I am VERY disappointed with Madonna's lack of statement, apparently she did an impromptu tribute as she asked for Whitney's music to be played in a club she was at in NYC and sang along I wanna Dance with Somebody, while I would have liked to have seen that, I still think not issuing a statement is NOT ok.

I did not buy tickets to her concert, I missed the pre-sale on purpose. Even if I end up going, I will NOT buy her $1000 super duper tickets even though I can comfortably afford them, I would probably get the cheapest tickets, IF I decide to go.

She issued statement supporting Kylie during cancer, a statement about MJ's passing, but looking back, she was not promoting anything at that point so she probably used it as a publicity stunt, but now, she is just too busy adding concerts and selling half-assed singles and medicore movies and probably-awful albums.

As for Prince, SHAKING MY HEAD. Shame on him.

Ok I might eat my words if she actually pays tribute to Whitney during the tour itself, but still, I am PISSED at her, Whitney vs Madonna... no, WHITNEY, anyday..

and for the record, the reason why Madonna went into a lot of praises for Whitney in the late 90s was due to her loathing Mariah Carey, not loving Whitney...

Here is an interesting blog post about how Madonna could have been the star of the Bodyguard, can you imagine it? lol, it probably would have ended up in the trash along with Shanghai Surprise, Body of Evidence, and the countless flops she calls movies:

Same here. I've always been impressed with his musicianship. And he's always been a WH fan (along with his mom, who's featured in that "Wonderful Counselor/AMA '88" performance).

Wait--are you talking bout Thicke's mom??? Are am I misunderstanding a pronoun.

Sorry if I unknowingly mislead with that comment. I was actually referring to Robin's mother being featured in the audience (smiling, clapping and singing along during the acapella portion of that performance). Of course, you probably already know that Robin's dad, Alan, wrote the themesong to Diff'rent Strokes and Facts Of Life (which feat. his mom singing lead vocals).

You know, the only music that I have been able to listen to tihs past week has been Whitney's live performances. The emotion and heart she conveys in every song moves me like nothing else. I just cannot imagine ever again paying to see some lip-syncing phoney on stage. Singers are SUPPOSED to SANG! Or at least sing. And real dancers show us what dance is all about with moves we watch with wonder. This new category of "entertainers," all of whom pale in comparison to real entertainers like Cirque du Soleil, is a load of crap, a slick catch-all to disguise the mediocrity we are being fed, like the fireworks and flashing lights.

Before Whitney's death, I was thinking about seeing Madonna, too, but now I know I will never bother with her music again, but not just because she has snubbed Whitney in death. Mostly I'm done with Madonna because Whitney's death has reminded me again how special real singers are, even the ones who don't remotely recall Whitney's magic. In the studio, and especially live, the unique tones of the human voice, unaltered by autotune, uninterrupted by pre-recorded vocal tracks, are wonderous. No cold, calculated, emotionally disconnected lip-sync track can come close to comparing. So from here on in, I am going to try to honor Whitney by supporting live singers, old and upcoming, in small clubs and venues, like the ones where Nippy honed her pipes.

What's the reason for the spat between Mariah and Madonna? Does anybody know for sure? Or is it just rumor like the ones about Whitney and Mariah?

Darlene Love
We looked out of the windows of the car and they were crying. It made Cissy and Bobbi Kristina feel good. Everybody is getting over yesterday. Now it is closure and we have to go on with life because Whitney would have wanted that. It means they loved her no matter what. Our fans, no matter what we do, they say things but they still love us unconditionally and they showed that last night. We talked about it going to the burial. The streets were lined with hundreds of people all the way up into the cemetery and they were waving and crying. That was so emotional to us. It really made us feel good.

On Sparkle:
It is bittersweet. There's a line in one of her songs called bittersweet. We're gonna do that just like we did everything else. We're gonna watch it, we're gonna love it, and we're gonna move on.

Glad to hear that Whitney's family especially Cissy and BK felt better after the funeral.

Glad, too, that they understood that Whitney's real fans loved her no matter what.

Apparently Madonna said in the 90s (publicly) that she will kill herself of boredom if she is Mariah or something like that, Mariah responded (in public) saying that the last time she paid attention to Madonna was back in the day she was popular (and Mariah was in 8th grade), since then, it's been on! In fact, in Live 8 Madonna refused to be in the same room as Mariah, and had her people make sure Mariah is gone before she goes in. Mariah also wanted to open the Grammys in 2005 but Madonna used her 'connections' to open it instead. Still going on, last I heard...

Has Babyface said anything? I haven't seen a statement from him...or perhaps I just overlooked it.
