My memory is failing me. Who is Melanie Thornton?
In any case, my heart and prayers go out to her family and her fans, and to the families of all the people who were on board the plane.

According to what I could find of her on the Web,she was one half of a Duo collaboration known as La Bouche.I didn't search for any hits we might recognize her by.I think they (her male partner rapped) were more of a Dance song Duo.House music etc.Either way, what a loss.

From the moment I read the title, I had no clue who the singer (I assumed correctly that she was a singer) was but after losing some I loved like Aaliyash, felt so sorry for her, her family and friends. I went on CNN.COM and found out she was the lead singer of La BOuche, which made me feel awful. None of you guys know her songs!??!?!?!?!!! She is a HUGE dance artist. Remember the song "Be My Lover" or that new-but more-club-styled cover of "Sweet Dreams" that came out 5 years ago? That was all done by LA Bouche. I remember loving their song S.O.S. 3 years ago and I got close to buying the album but backed out. The plane she was on was Crossair and was a COMMERCIAL (meaning it wasn't private and not chartered) and had 34 people. Like said in the main post, 24 died and 10 survived. Tomorrow a single was going to be released around Europe that was the song to which CoCa Cola was using for the Holiday season. She is HUGE in Germany and other places in EUrope so you will probably read alot more about her in European websites, but some American ones too cause she is from La Bouche and is American. My prayers go out to Melanie's family and friends as well as all of the other families and friends of the other 23 who passed away.

Remember the Diva vocals of your favorite La Bouche hits...
Sweet Dreams, Be My Lover, Fallin' In Love? Well, Melanie is back to give her fans that powerhouse voice they've been longing to hear again.
La Bouche was one of the most successful bands of the 90’s ... Successfully and unmistakably through the power-full voice of Melanie Thornton!
THE VOICE OF THE DIVA
After her separation from La Bouche, a separation that she needed "..., to finally be able to extend my wings in order to fly even higher than I could up to now", Melanie Thornton has reported back with two tender ballads.
"Love How You Love Me" is an open confession of love that lasts eternally, silencing all doubt of it’s existence. When asked whether she would like to achieve a personal oath of love with this piece, the sexy American answers with a suggestive smile... Love is just a heartbeat away.... The lyrics of her second single... "Heartbeat"
Melanie Thornton has reached news bounds in the life of her music, for her there’s a new beginning. On her first solo Album, that powerful voice from South Carolina with new, rockier sounds appears without, however, losing the roots to the pop area.
MELANIE THORNTON - AN AMERICAN DREAM COMES TRUE
Born in the month of May, it was evident to all that Melanie Thornton was destined to sing . At the age of 11 she began private singing lessons which she continued through college where talent shows and concerts with cover bands helped to finance her room and board.
It was the beginning of the 90’s that brought Melanie to the decision of making music not only the center of her soul, but also an occupational pursuit. On February 14, 1992 she packed up her dreams, all her confidence - and her last $15 and ventured to Germany.
Already on the second evening in the new home, Melanie took the stage of Munich’s Nacht Café to an all time high where the crowd roared with excitement at her performance. The path to success had begun.
With her partner Lane McCray, Melanie Thornton celebrated world-wide successes as La Bouche. Selling more than 10 million units as well as achieving gold & platinum awards in over 15 countries crowned the cooperation of the famous duo.

Oh God, what a shame. May she and everyone else who died rest in peace.
Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death.

I don't know her, but oh well, I think that is really sad. What is happening to the airline industry? It seems to me that taking a plane is like going to war now.
May she and everyone on that plane rest in peace.
May she and everyone on that plane rest in peace.
