Sergio - I never knew your story! Ain't it shocking what her voice can do?
OMG, yes! Every time I begin to describe her voice I began stuttering to find the words to describe it.
Also, I love reading these introductions and Whitney stories.

My name is Petra and I'm a 20 year old girl from Croatia. Unlike most of you here, I've only been a fan for a couple of years, from the beggining of 2009 to be exact.
She had actually caught my eye before that, but i had no internet at home so I was unable to do any serious research. I do remember taping The Bodyguard when it came on tv, sometime around 2004. I rewatched it numerous times, I got on everybody's nerves because I'd watch it almost every day.
And then came that day in the early 2009. I remember sitting in front of my computer, bored to death. And then it hit me! Whitney! So i just googled her. The first thing that came up was the Wikipedia article which is huge, as you all probably know. I read the whole thing and that was it, I was hooked. I entered a kind of a frenzy state, it was probably a bit unhealthy. For the next couple of weeks I watched and read everything I could find - music videos, live performances, concerts, interviews, you name it.
I made a Youtube channel dedicated to her and made some good friends there. Then i joined a fan forum. Oddly enough, somehow it wasn't this one
Of course, I couldn't live without forums, there's something special about them. So I joined this one. I had been lurking around for quite some time and just decided it was enough, I needed to really participate.I really do feel like I know a lot of you guys. Each and every one of you has that something special, like a style of your own. Sometimes I can recognize you just by reading your posts, without even having to look at the username. This has been my home for the last couple of years and I feel close to you, I feel safe here.
As for Whitney herself, no need to explain why I love her. We all know that. A special person (emphasis on PERSON, not just an entertainer) who touched my life and changed me in so many ways. And at the same time she never knew I existed. If that's not magic, I don't know what is. I'll be forever grateful for that.
And I thank you all for being here and for making all this possible.
I love you all. NBL!

Fast Foward to Whitney-fan. I started reading Whitney-fan I believe in 6th or 7th grade when it was still under Rachel's handling. I didn't start posting to high school. I feel like Whitney-fan is truly my Whitney family. I have gotten to meet so many people from Whitney-fan and I can't remember half their names but here goes Lisa, Terrence, Kisha(cant remember your screen name), Conclusive and many more. They were great times because we were going to see Whitney for both the 2002 and 2009 GMA performances. I really wanted to see at least one full concert in my life but I am happy to at lease see her in person. I can't wait for future Whitney-fan meetings.

I met him last year totally at random. Some friends of mine planned a weekend trip to Atlanta. We opened it up for more people to join us. Another friends asked could he invite some of his extended friends. No problem. So we all arrived to ATL and one of these extended friends was named Jason, but says alot of people call him Jace. I thought nothing of it. The conversation eventually turned to Whitney and I was like wow, this is ironic. You are the third Jace I know who loves Whitney! He sayd I was thinking the same thing, I know another Terrence who loves Whitney as well. Ya'll kinda favor each other. He mentions Whitney-fan and we both fell out! SHUUUUUUUUUUUT UP!!! LOL! He's a **REALLY** cool dude! I believe he lives in Philly now.

My heart is calling.

My name is Matt, I'm 38 years old and live in the UK about 50 miles north of London. I have loved Whitney for almost as long as I have memories. My cousin who lives in Texas first introduced me to Whitney's music. We used to write to each other all the time as kids and during one of her visits to the UK with the rest of the family, she played me the record 'Eternal Love' and I was in love
From then on there was nobody else for me...Whitney was the one! At the age of only 10 years, my hobby of collecting Whitney records (and in more recent times CD's) began. I first saw Whitney live at Wembley Arena, London on 16th October 1986 (I only know this as I still have the ticket stub). Since then I have seen her live every time she has toured in the UK, including a one night only performance in 1998 in Manchester. I battled hard to get a ticket for that night!! Some of my most valued possessions in life are my ticket stubs and concert books...many of which I have had framed.
However, the big thing for me is that in all the milestones of my life I can attach a Whitney song to them. Everything that has happened to me in my life, I was listening to Whitney. First love, puberty, first car, first job, pets that have come and gone, friendships, heart break, illness...Whitney has always been there. If it makes any sense, it's almost like Whitney has been a part of my growing up...every step of the way.

I have never posted much but I have visited this site weekly / daily since 1997. It has been bookmarked on every device I've owned since then. This has been my online home. It became more than just about Whitney. I come here to confirm / review all major world events. Whitney Houston's music has helped me through many life and career challenges. She has empowered me over and over again. The Whitney-Fan family has always done right by Whitney through all the ups and downs. The members are smart, funny, crazy, strong, opinionated, loving, caring, down to earth, have firm beliefs and strive to live right... all the attributes of the Whitney we know and love...
... I'm not ready for the past tense.

When did I become a fan?
In 1985 my mom played "Hold Me" and told me to listen to that woman singing. I still remember that magical fairy dust feeling coming over me as I heard her sing, "I believe yoooouuu... when youuuuu... say that you love meee....Know thaaaat...I wooOOOON't...take you fooooor granteeeed...Tonight the magic has be-guuuuu-UUuuu-UUUUNN!!". I remember listening and being shaken to my core and knew that my life had changed somehow in that moment.
My embarrassing Whitney moment
I infamously tried sang "I Believe In You and Me" at my sister's wedding and when I got to the big parts near the end I was out of breath and my voice literally gave out. My mom (who is a professional singer) had to join me on stage and finish the song. To this day my mom still laughs at me for that.
My most embarrassing non-Whitney moment
I was infamously attacked by birds.
My claim to fame on Whitney-fan
There are so many. I'm the resident diva...
Even though I have never physically met anyone here on the board, I feel that the people here are like family. We've grown up with each other on this board for the past 14 years. This is home.

Hello back (via Canada)!
(And I only recently discovered that Heather Headley was from Trinidad, also, so I was quite happy for The Bodyguard The Musical connection. I'm pretty confident she's going to do wonderful things with that role.)

Go in peace, God be with you.
Go in peace, be at rest with the saints and the angels.
Now you are free.
Go in peace.

I have been a Whitney fan since around the age of 6. I remember having to sing the National Anthem every morning at school and it been so boring and a time to completely goof off for me, until for Black History month my principal played Whitney's verision and I was hooked. I had no idea who it was singing but I knew that I needed to hear more. I remember some of the older kids at the school making a petition to have Whitney's verison the one that we would hear every morning after Black History month was over and they went back to the previous one, and the principal changed it and from that day forth we heard Whitney sing the National Anthem every morning. It was amazing how much of an impact Whitney made on elementary children!
I remember when the Bodyguard came out and I will always love you played over and over on the radio station and my mom complaining that they were over playing the song that it was to beautiful of a song for them to kill it the way that they were but I couldnt get enough of it. When the movie came out I was 9 and too young to see the movie and my mom had company over to watch the movie and thought I was in bed but infact I was behind the sofa watching the movie with them lol She had no idea until recently that I had done this. I actually forgot until recently when someone asked how long have I been a fan and remembered that I really cant remember when I havent been a Whitney fan.
When Wating to Exhale came out, again I was too young to see the movie(according to my mother) and I cried and begged and pleaded and she refused and my aunt who is the coolest ever because of this, checked me out early from school one day rented the movie and let me watch it! I thought that was the best day in my life. I really didnt understand half of that movie and had no business watching it but had to see my Whitney. Im smiling thinking about it.
In middle school I carried a notebook around that I had written all of the lyrics to Whitney songs in. I guess I thought it would come in handy one day lol. I really wish I had kept up with that. It made no sense to anyone but me.
I was blessed in 1999 with tickets to Whitney's My Love is Your Love concert in Atlanta. I remember calling the radio station over and over trying to win tickets and not being able to get through. I kept thinking that it was no way that Whitney was coming to Atlanta and I was not going to see her as the days got closer and closer to the concert I thought it would never happen for me. One of my older cousins who is in entertainment knew one of the DJ's at V103 and somehow got me 2 tickets for FREE. One of the best moments of my life. I remember realizing that not only was I not the only Whitney FANATIC in the world but there were others more obssessed than I was. I will never forget that concert. She sang her heart out. She gave her all. I was so priviledged to be able to witness The Voice in person. I am and will forever be a Whitney Houston fan!

Hi Tia, I agree, it's truly a privilige to attend a Whitney concert. I felt that way in 1999 and in 2010 and I wish there would be more opportunities. But we've witnessed it and will forever hold those memories dear to us....
