I have a very STRONG feeling that not only Sparkle would be a smash hit at the Box Office, its Soundtrack would also top the charts.
Infact - and it hurts me to say this - since HEIOTS is gonna be Whitney's last recorded song(as we are not sure whether they could do the complete recording of Celebrate), its gonna do GREAT in the charts as well...
We have to PLEDGE that we would try our very best to give Whitney her last no.1 in that song :(

Oh god....

Oh no, just let her be in peace, and let each and every one of us grieve the way we need. Maybe that is how Clive grieves. Maybe his time is short too and he wants her honored. And he best can get it accurate as he led the way. I realized myself each of us grieves differently. I cannot bear to have my Whitney Houston music on right now. It tears my soul. So I simply have listened to Cece sing "Don't Cry for Me" over and over and over. Time heals all wounds. God heals all wounds. And clearly, we have them all in different places. God bless Whitney. And Clive. And each of you.

I just found this on youtube:

I have been listening to Whitney's "Don't Cry for Me" constantly since she died. That and live performances of "Home" and "Why Does it Hurt So Bad." For some reason, I can barely listen to any other Whitney songs, I don't want to hear any other singer, and I cannot listen to Whitney's studio recordings( I think for me they are just so perfect, they make me ask too many questions (that start with "why") for which I have no answers). Sometimes, I listen to her singing, it is so gut-wrenching, it seems my heart will stop. What a mad, crazy, mixed-up, arbitrary world we inhabit.

Me too, so weird ! But add on my playlist, In Return, Like a bridge over troubled waters, Happy bday to her daddy(but I have been listening to that since my dad died almost 2 years ago daily) and MDB....thank God for my 5 year old she loves that song! So I get some happy, light music as well as some laughs from both my girls 5 and almost 2 dancing and singing!
I will say this, mamma trained them right...they love themselves some Whitney!
It's so sad though, I have loved Whit since 85, silly I know, but one of my dreams was to take both of my girls to a concert. All 3 of us together, now it will never happen :(
Sorry I rambled.....just felt good to, I guess, get that out in a place where real fans would know how much hurting we are all doing...

I'm going to add "In return" to my rotation. I can't listen to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" 'cause it's a duet, and I can't listen to anyone but Whitney, even on a duet. I'm just too sad for MDB at the moment. I do need a few more live songs for my rotation. Do you have any suggestions?

This day

Yes. I listened to that one a lot at the beginning (rehearsal version). Then it got too gut-wrenching. It is one of my all time Whitney favorites. It breaks my heart, but I'll try it again.

Hey, everybody.

I think we're all having a hard time with our loss and the response is to look for a pound of flesh. I'm worried more about each of you than what Clive is doing or not doing. I came into this thread ready to side with those against Clive, but I'm beginning to accept that what will be will be. As much as Whitney means to me, there will be others who will seek to fill their pain centers with the worst about her. I won't be able to stop them. I will play and sing her songs. I will remember her telling me she loved me, how she smelled, looked, and felt when we met. I'll come here and see that I'm not the only one she touched. I refuse to mix my grief at her loss and anger at her trespassers with my joy in her beauty and art. Every project they release that is good for her legacy I will support. Each one that is not won't get my money.

I hope we're all doing what we can to take care of ourselves during this difficult time.

Hi there, I noticed in reading your post that you met Whitney and just curious as to if you've shared your experience on this site? I would love to read it...if not I understand.

"

So Clive Davis may have had something to do with her death. I would not be surprised if we learn that it's so because I was watching an old clip of the Monique show the other day, and T-Boz was on the show talking about Clive Davis and how the TLC girls went into the studio and held him up at gun point.(for him not paying them all their money. That being said, I believe Clive Davis is no good and Whitney was no more good to him because her voice was gone."

I don't like Clive. I think he is a user. I think Whitney tried to break from him as indicate by her interview with Diane Swayer. I think he blackball her music career when they broke their relationship; she came back to him so he would stop. Most of his wealth is probably attribute to Whitney album sells.

I do not know Clive Davis personally but I did have the honor of meeting one of his artists back around '88.(I prefer not mentioning any names at this point) He left A&M to go with Arista. He was and still is a great singer song writer. Clive wanted him to sing other people's music. Clive wanted to make this artist the male version of Whitney. He refused to sing other songs such as "Even The Nights Are Better" which was recorded by the group Air Supply. This artist was into more sort of R&B Jazz fusion. he was the first white artist to appear on Soul Train. To make a long story short he was basically shelved for not wanting to do it Clive's way. He was not able to record for 5 years. He had to buy back his contract for 2 million dollars!

So that story came from the horses mouth.

The one thing I will say is that Clive should have encouraged Whitney to write at least a couple of her own songs for each album, and to co-write as well. She was very musical and had great ideas for vocal arrangments. The money is made by the songwriters, and I think this "oversight" will been seen to have a big impact on Whitney's estate. It is a good thing she branched off into producing successful movies (though, who knows how those deals were structured).

Whatever became of the artist of whom you spoke? I can't say I blame him for refusing to sing that wretched Air Supply song. In fact, I'm a bit annoyed that I have been reminded of that thing. I'll bet even Air Supply don't want to be reminded of that crap.

Without a doubt this man has had plans to replace her for long, and she new it. I find him tasteless and cold.

Oh and by the way Clive, no Jennifer is not right up there, she is not even close to Whitney so dont even think this plan of yours will work.

"She really ranks right up there." Ha.Ha.Ha. "Depth, range, soulfullness." Ha.Ha.Ha.Ha.Ha.....Ha.Ha.Ha. Ha.Ha.Ha. Clive's been working on that marketing plan, I guess. How's it working out? Has she sold as many albums combined as, say, Just Whitney? Lord Ha' Mercy! JHud is a nice enough girl. Lost a lot of weight. 'Nuf said.

I would add that Whitney, today, was still the best singer out there. The tone of her voice was amazing, and what she did with her lyrics was just breathtaking. You listen to I Look to You or MDB, or A Song For You on her I Look To You album, and show me which singer today could move anyone like Whitney did with those songs. She was, to the very end the most amazing singer, ever (sorry 'Ree, but that's the fact). There was a quality to her voice that just tore at your heart, at your gut, and nobody else out there can do it, and the American Idol wannabes who copy and mimic her are just laughable.

The problem with Clive is that he actually thinks HE created Whitney Houston. He forgets that she was amazing before he met her and he forgets how many other labels wanted to sign her. He forgets her DNA; he forgets that her mother was a choir director who taught her to SANG in the church; he forgets that she learned her craft singing background vocals for years before he ever heard her; he forgets that she spent her childhood and youth watching and learning from masters (Dionne, Aretha, Cissy) from the wings of stages around the world. Clive had nothing to do with creating Whitney Houston, the singer. He introduced Whitney Houston to the world, but he did not make her the singer she was. Moreover, he did not make her the superstar she became either, that was all her with her decision to do the Bodyguard.

I have a lot of respect for Clive as a music executive. He knows marketing. And he may be able to do some flim-flam, Madonna-type tricks, and sell a lot of records with JHud, or some other AI talent show singer, but if he thinks he can create another Whitney Houston, he surely has lost his mind. Someone needs to remind Clive to sell the Kool-Aid, but don't drink it.

Just think how bigger her body of work would have been if she didn't have those bad years with Bobby. She was in her prime at that time. She would have surpass Madonna record sells by far.

I don't like Lionel Richer poor interview. I think Whitney is a dignify person and would not be devastated if someone said her voice is not how it use to be at that point in life. I think she realize that and have come to accept. Even with her present voice, she was still better than Jennifer. That's a fact. I think she wanted to perform here and there just to feel the joy of singing but this evil music industry want to squeeze ever last penny out her and try to make her a workhorse at age 48.
