You are probably right. Love this song. I wonder who made the decisions about what to release as singles and how they decided.

My guess is because Moment of Truth was never a album track. It was just a b-side single to I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

I absolutely love this song. I always wondered why it was a B side when it is so good. I remember buying the IWDWS single and hearing that song, and thinking that the album was going to be SO GOOD. And it was, but then MOT wasn't on it, which confused me. After that, I got excited about each single because I figured there would be a new song on the B side (which didn't always happen). Anyway, so glad someone else agrees with me about this stupendous song.

I remember it did get some radio play though it was never officially released. I too have always wanted it as a released single. Arista always seemed to let Whitney let lose and be more soulful on her B-sides (Dancing on a Smooth Edge, Feel so Good, etc). I always wanted the haters who said she couldn't sing...or worse, the ones who said she didn't have soul...to be exposed to these songs to shut them up.

This makes me think of young, fresh, sparkling, big-hair Whitney. I remember this song giving me so much...i don't know...hope as a teenager. I used to sing this song in my bedroom all the time and tried to raise the roof on the last "let out your feelings tonigh-igh-ight..." before my mom would tell me to hush up.

I agree, this would have been a great song to release, along with Dancing' on the Smooth Edge and Feels So Good. These three songs are definitely underrated!

I disagree. "Moment of Truth" is a nice song, but I don't think it would have hit number 1. "One Moment in Time" didn't go number one and it is a much better song, so I don't think "Truth" would have made it.

I never loved "Love Will Save the Day", but I like it. The fact that there was no video hindered this song going further.

I think "Takin' A Chance", "Dancing on the Smooth Edge" and especially "Feels So Good" had better chances of reaching the top spot.

"Love Will Save the Day" did have a video. It was just the live performance from the Special Olympics. I think the reason why LWSTD and OMIT didn't make it to number one back then was because the market was oversaturated with Whitney by late 1988. I believe that was also the reason why they decided not to have "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" be a duet between Michael and Whitney.

But, This song was actually recorded with intentions to be on the "Whitney" album.
Sadly, Whitney was out voted by Arista and Clive so they just decided to make it the B-side to "I wanna Dance".

LWSTD had more #1 potential than MOT. I think the market was quite over saturated by that time....
